Makes no sense 🙃

Human decency is not perfection. It’s the commitment we make to treat one another with love and care. It’s choosing kindness, the holding the door, returning the shopping trolley, and owning your mistakes. It’s treating workers, strangers, and loved ones like human beings instead of obstacles, status symbols, or content.

Some will say none of this disappeared. That people are fundamentally good and always have been. And they’re right, in the same way vinyl and film cameras never stopped existing. They were still there, just no longer mainstream. Appreciated by some, overlooked by many.

That’s the point. Human decency still exists too. There are still kind, honest, compassionate people everywhere. But when something stops being culturally encouraged, celebrated, or modeled consistently, it becomes less visible in everyday life. We normalize whatever we repeatedly reward.

Right now, outrage spreads faster than compassion. Humiliation gets more engagement than understanding. Cynicism is mistaken for intelligence. Softness is often treated as weakness, and basic respect is seen as rare rather than the norm. It’s time to change the narrative.

Many trends resurrect themselves because someone reached into the past, dusted something off, and decided it was worth carrying forward. That’s how all revivals work. They need a carrier. Why not let that person be you?

Love, decency, and basic human warmth have always existed somewhere. But existing somewhere isn’t the same as being alive in the room. In the comments section, on the commute, at the dinner table, and in the way you speak to someone whose opinion you disagree with. Presence isn’t the same as practice.

Some things deserve to stay buried. Cruelty, dishonesty, exploitation, posturing, performance, and treating people as disposable. But love shouldn’t be one of them.

Love isn’t a trend that needs a season or a cultural moment to justify it. It just needs you to carry it consistently in ordinary moments, when no one is watching, and there’s no applause for it.

You don’t need to wait for it to become cool again. You get to be the person who makes it cool again.
