Our Story
OrangeFruitcake Arts & Crafts was opened September 2018 by me, Becky Foxton, a Fantasy Artist based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. My work tends towards the fantastical, with flowing shapes and patterns, reflecting my love of Nature, History, and Storytelling. The name OrangeFruitcake was originally a pseudonym I used when I first started posting my Artwork online, I didn't have the c
onfidence to use my real name, and though now I do sign works with my own name, I still trade under 'Orange Fruitcake' as a homage to how far I've come. I chose 'Orange' for my natural Ginger locks, and 'Fruitcake' as I've always been a bit mad (most certainly contains nuts). All OrangeFruitcake Designs start out hand drawn, I then scan my final pieces, and strive to edit them as little as possible prior to printing. I feel like this process creates a more personal piece, and helps maintain the 'soul' that's been worked into it. I have a passion for Eco-friendly living, and am constantly striving towards finding more sustainable ways to live and work. That’s one of the reasons I print all my work myself from home. I use a local ink refil service, only recycling the cartridges when they're no longer useable. My cards are printed on the same high quality matte paper as my fine Art Prints, and I encourage home framing. I'm against the use of glitter and plastic coatings, so they can also be composted or recycled. I use recycled paper where possible, and the clear display wallets I protect cards and prints in are made from cornstarch and are 100% compost-able. Even the sticky tape I seal packaging with is compost-able and free from animal products. My oil paints have no animal bi-products in them, and I've switched to painting originals on sustainably sourced wood.
