As posted in various groups around ...
Are you looking for land to enjoy and grow vegetables? Can't get an allotment? Well, perhaps this will solve your problem!
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to permaculture, conservation and wildlife protection, and have four acres of land, adjacent to ancient woodland where I live - Lidham Barn - on the Rye Road, Ore/Guestling border, Hastings.
The land comprises two fields, both about two acres: one behind the property and the neighbouring three, and is part of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and the other, fronting the Rye Road and Winchelsea Road, not AONB but within the Hastings town plan.
Originally part of Lidham Farm - not to be confused with Lidham Hill Farm, Guestling Thorn - and uncultivated for twenty-years, both fields were grass and have been left unmanaged for six years, so are partly wild and covered in brambles.
I'm looking for anyone who wants to get involved in any way to make use of and enjoy this land: to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables, keep animals - perhaps pigs and goats to eat the brambles, have social get-togethers, camp and a mini-music festival or two! :)
I envisage a mix of traditional 'allotments' for those who are really keen, communal growing areas for people to share and garden areas with flowers and shrubs. We could also have fruit trees dotted about!
I've posted this on Hastings Gardening Enthusiasts and Hastings Old Town Appreciation Group (HOTAG) and had a great response with over 20 people PMing me and joining the dedicated group Friends of Lidham Barn.
Anyone want to help/get involved? If so, please join the group or PM me direct. 😀
