In partnership with Hastings Museum, Pizza and Plays digs into the history and lore of our town, with 3 incredible writers each dramatising something historical about Hastings, right on the Stade stage.

And it doesn't stop there, every show comes with pizza, and Remi Vibesman of Hidden Beach will be playing us out with a party after the performance 🧡

Another day exploring 💫

Our Playwright-on-Attachment, Chloë, recently met a very special local character during a visit to Hastings Museum — Mr Fishy!

A fascinating example of a processional giant, Mr Fishy is part of a rich tradition of folklore figures brought to life through festivals and celebrations. With their papier-mâché heads, colourful costumes, and larger-than-life personalities, processional giants can be found across countries including Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain, and England.

Chloë’s visit was all about research, inspiration, and uncovering local stories as she develops her upcoming short play for our very first Pizza & Plays this September 🍕

We can’t wait to see how these traditions inspire her work.
