The Source Park skatepark is now closed until further notice due to health and safety concerns. The required work to address these will not be completed until 2027. The closure only affects the skatepark, business in the Courtyard will be open as usual. We are working with our tenants to ensure minimal disruption.
The Foreshore Trust has allocated £1.5m for this work over the next two to three years in a phased approach. The tender process to find a contractor will start later this summer. The work required includes work to prevent water ingress and work to the concrete structures around the Source Park and Courtyard and the promenade in the immediate area. The first phase of work should be completed in 2027, with further work in the coming years.
Safeguarding this key asset is a priority for the trust, and it is unfortunate that the work needed means the park needs to close for a period of time. We apologise that the closure has come at such short notice, this is due to health and safety concerns at the park that meant it was necessary to close immediately.
The Battle of Hastings BMX event planned for September has been postponed until 2027 – a new date will be announced when the required work has been planned.
