AUDITION NOTICE

It’s A Wonderful Life - Directors: Niall Whitehead / Barbara Ward

Performance dates 11th – 19th December

Auditions Sunday 5th July 2pm – 5pm

This year’s Stables’ Christmas show is a fabulous stage version of the critically acclaimed Capra movie adapted by Mary Elliot Nelson.
Christmas Eve, 1946, Bedford Falls. Down-on-his-luck banker George Bailey feels life has passed him by, and he’s at the end of his rope. But when George’s guardian angel pays him a visit, he’s amazed to discover what life in his beloved town would be without him. Maybe it’s a wonderful life after all. This is a joyful story of love, hope and community and a perfect Christmas show.
We are seeking to build a strong ensemble and cast a range of actors, some of whom will play more than one character. All actors will need an American accent. Age range is for guidance and can be flexible.

Characters:
George Bailey. (30s but will play younger in flashbacks.) Protagonist – charming, witty, determined.
Mary. (30s but will play younger in flashbacks.) George’s devoted wife – kind and resilient.
Clarissa. George’s guardian angel. Scatty but determined to save George.
Mr Potter. (40s – 60s) Antagonist – unscrupulous and ruthless.
Violet. (30s but will play younger in flashbacks.) Flirtatious but good hearted. May also play other characters.
Uncle Billy (50s-60s) Absentminded and quirky.
Company: (The following characters will be multi-rolled)
Harry Bailey (George’s brother) / Bert (George’s friend/police - sings) / Sam (George’ friend) / Angel Gloria / Angel Joseph / Matini (bar man) / Mr Gower (pharmacist) / Ernie (cab driver/friend – sings) / Narrators / + others
The audition will involve reading sections from the play which will be available in advance at the box office.
