The Empty Sardine Can Gallery

The Empty Sardine Can Gallery A tiny art gallery on a public footpath in Fairlight Cove. Never knowingly open. There are many that return just to see what I’ve been up to. It’s just there.

I’ve exhibited works at the bottom of the garden for many years so that people using the public footpath can have a gander. Creating the tiny gallery in the back-gate seemed a logical next step. I can now invite other artists to show their work as well. Opening a new venue during the pandemic might seem a tad strange but it’s outside and visitors can easily maintain social distancing. There will b

e no grand opening and no private views. Please come and visit. If travelling by car please note that you must park, considerately, in the village and go down the rough track to the gallery on foot.

We've submitted a painting for the open at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery. Fantastic place to visit. Took my brother there last Friday. Unfortunately they didn't want him.

The final piece rejected by Hastings Contemporary and the Odyssey exhibition was 'Salle D'attente'.
We were very surprised when we visited the exhibition that there were no artworks referencing the pandemic and the strange odyssey we all experienced when the world was knocked sideways and we were all stuck in a 'waiting room'. We think they missed an opportunity to remind people about something we all shared. Well we would wouldn't we ......

We've been having several meetings to decide 'the best in show' at the Odyssey exhibition at Hastings Contemporary. In the end it was a unanimous decision - 'Sneaky Searcher of an Evening' by Jane Dinmore. Our minds stretched from 20,000 leagues under the sea to Gollum - called a 'sneak' by Sam and what a journey that lot had! - to how on earth do 3 tiny lines feminise a periscope. Thank you Jane - excellent.

Something else to see!!!!!! Is it Mary Duckins? Lovely weather so why not go for a walk and take in some real art in the Hastings area.

One of the other pieces rejected by Hastings Contemporary for their current Odyssey exhibition. If 'stones with holes in' haven't had an odyssey I don't what has. Up to 3 million years apparently and quite a few to go. Funny to think that these will still be around long after I've kicked the bucket. (Hagstones, a normal pebble, a paving slab and cast lead - 'Look a stone without a hole in it')
