I often get asked about the print process, so I thought I’d share a recent one colour block Lino print and how I got there! Sometimes when you say you are a printmaker, people think you are printing off images from other sources..but no, it’s all hand-drawn, and a lot of work goes into it!
*It starts with an idea, something catches my eye..something relevant to my life and surroundings *Making sketches directly onto the block until I’m happy with the layout *Then I stain the block with acrylic ink *The carving begins, which can take weeks or months depending on detail and scale! *As I’m carving, I use a sharpie to colour in the positive lines so I can see the contrast and shape. *keep carving…*Print!!
We all do it differently, but this is the technique that works for me ❤️

I’ve been out of the studio for almost a week, preparing our Candyland HQ for half term guests, where we move out of our home for the duration, so it’s all go. I will be back in, working on a new artwork on Sunday though and around as much as possible during the week! Looking forward to it 🙏🏼
