ONE LAST WALTZ!
It is with a heavy heart, that I have to type out this post on Facebook today. Sad but exciting emotions full me right now as I type this.
To all my dancing 'Friends'.
The end of May sees me hanging up my dancing shoes - for the foreseeable future! Marion and I have decided on the difficult decision to pack up and move the family to France! With this move, comes an end to my dancing career.
We will be closing our doors on May the 30th, with a last hurrah on Friday the 7th of June, at St Georges Hall. www.cmfdance.co.uk/socials
I have had a wonderful dancing life and career, from hitting the dance floor at the age of 9 years old, to competing in Ballroom and Latin American in Zimbabwe and South Africa, to moving to the UK and doing one last amateur competition in Blackpool!
The competition days soon moved to teaching professionally through the IDTA with my very close friends, Michael and Marie Sandham. I had some amazing years teaching with Mike and Marie and spent 10 wonderful years running the Princess Ballroom in Birstall, until 2017.
Another move, meant I fell in love and got married, started working 9-5 and taught dancing socially, a couple of nights a week!
Juggling work, dancing and a family was fun enough, made slightly more challenging through COVID! But, with a supportive family, and the most loyal customers, we all got through that, and were able to continue dancing!
However, the time has come to hang up the dancing shoes and, for the second time in my life, move country!
I would love to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who I have had the pleasure in meeting, teaching, demoing, lecturing and dancing for and with over the many many years. Dancing is a wonderful experience and must be enjoyed by all!
Special mentions to Lesley Clift (my first teacher in Zimbabwe), Michael and Marie Sandham for taking me under their wings and helping me land with 2 feet in the UK, my Sister, Jo, for patnering me in dance comps and assisting in lessons, and most importantly, getting me into dancing, Reg and Carol, Helen and Steve for help in Birstall with lessons and social nights, Sarah and Beth in Bradford for all the fun we had at Revolution Dance, to my family, for making the experience in life possible, through lesson payments, travel to and from competitions and general support when it became too difficult to be a dancer at an all boys rugby school, to the wonderul customers who came along to classes - you have made this experience that much more fun, for laughing at my jokes, to the friends I have made along the way - you all know who you are (so many to mention)...
And to my Wonderful Wife Marion - for being the most amazing person to me and the best mother to our beautiful children, any one could ask for!
Here is to dancing, and here is to our next chapter in life!
Hopefully see you on the dance floor, somewhere, soon!
Lots of Love
Colin
Keeeep Dancing!
EDIT: Not to forget my time at Revolution Dance in Bradford, with the wonderful Sarah, Beth, Miss Katie and Michelle! An important time too, as we put togehter our first (and my) dance show in theatre! An Amazing experience, shared with many amazing friends!
So many people to talk about!!
(a few pics from our time at CMF Dance, from our first class, to our most recent socials - we have had the BEST time).
