Just Makers is based at Ripley Castle Courtyard, just outside Harrogate. We exhibit the work of over 100 local artists and makers and sell a wide range of gorgeous things - they make perfect gifts... although some things you won't want to give away! We also run a wide range of art and craft workshops!

This was the shop this morning and it’s definitely not the most glamorous part of running a shop.

This week has been just a bit exhausting so far with random bits of tissue paper and bubble wrap littering the floor, sooo many boxes and trying to remember what’s been packed and where.

Thankfully I’ve had the most incredible help from Sarah who deserves several gold stars…

We’ve one more day of packing to go and then it’s move day on Friday!

Today was our final day of trading from our little shop in Ripley.

Ten years ago Just Makers first opened its doors in the Castle Courtyard.

Over that time thousands of customers have visited, hundreds of artists have been supported and countless conversations have taken place over the counter.

A big thank you to everyone who has been part of the Just Makers story so far.

Tomorrow the packing up begins and attention turns to our next chapter in Skipton… But Ripley will always be a big part of the Just Makers story.

One of my favourite little cards and one that feels appropriate this week.

As we head into our final weekend in Ripley, we’ve been genuinely touched by the kindness and support people have shown.

We’re still open in Ripley for two more days, so if you’ve been meaning to pop in before the move, this weekend really is your last chance.

We’ll be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 4.30pm and it would be wonderful to see you!

The thing I love the most about Just Makers is that we aren’t just about selling “things”.

Instead we are about celebrating traditional skills and giving people access to real art in an approachable and welcoming way, while supporting artists and small independent businesses.

Some of the work we sell is fun and affordable, while some is a bit more serious, detailed and perhaps even took months to create. It all has a place as long as it has been made well and fits with our values.

It’s also true that everything we sell has been made by someone with a story behind what they do and by people who also live in and run their small creative business from our home county of Yorkshire (or very close by).

A few current favourites from around the shop this week.

There are definitely more boxes appearing behind the scenes now and a growing number of “you have to pack all this up?” conversations happening daily…

But amongst all that, beautiful work is still on display and business very much continues as usual in our little shop in Ripley for another week at least!

There’s a lot of mixed emotions in the shop at the moment.

There are tape measures, lists everywhere and the odd moving box now popping up in the background.

But at the same time, new work is still arriving from our artists, customers are still discovering work for the first time and we’re still doing what Just Makers has always done best in filling the shop with beautiful things made by very talented people.

We’re in Ripley until 7th June and very much still open, both in the shop and online, while we prepare for the move to Skipton.

Honestly, it’s already feeling quite emotional about this little shop and all the people we see regularly. But that’s mixed with excitement for all the great things we will be building in Skipton and beyond.

If you’ve been meaning to pop in before we move, now would be a lovely time to do it.

We are open every day 10am -4.30pm and would love to see you!
