RX3: Repetition, Recurrence, Reiteration, from Saturday 7th December for 6 weeks. Artists: Kelly Cumberland, Katy Devine, Walkerhill, Andi Robinson, Eirini Boukla RX3 Acknowledging that serial actions underpin some of the most significant art of the past century Rx3 does not look to re-frame or reinterpret that legacy but simply reaffirm seriality's vitality as a guiding principle. All exhibiting artists are characterized by a rational mode of creative production through repetitive and often systematic processes that generates a varied visual vocabulary. While simultaneously exploring individual conceptual and contemporary issues their drawing investigations (that often shift a drawing surface into a distinctly dimensional space) moves beyond ideas of repetition employed as simply a means of a work’s wider circulation and consumption (the print, the cast, etc.), to repetition as a formal quality used for itself; a creative process where a single rendition of a work does not necessarily exhaust the potential of the idea or its design.
