Last week our young artists built entire new worlds using old OS maps, rice and vibrant watercolours - complete with rugged coastlines, golden beaches and gorgeous watercolour seas ✨

This week at The Art Room, we celebrated International Museums Day by becoming mini art historians - exploring Realism, Pointillism, Pop Art and Surrealism all in one afternoon!

Our young artists drew the same everyday object FOUR different ways…

From carefully shaded pencil sketches to flying Wicked themed crockery ✨ every child proved that how you see the world is just as important as what you see.

We were super impressed by their creativity, curiosity and artistic thinking!

Art is joyful! And this week in The Art Room it really was… In honour of International Sculpture Day, we ditched the flat page and went gloriously 3D! 💛

Did you know abstract sculpture doesn’t have to represent anything at all? This week we learned about British artist Anthony Caro, whose bold metal sculptures changed the idea of what sculpture could be - no pedestals, no figures, just shape, balance and imagination. 🤩

We weave in art history and technique in our sessions - whilst always leaving plenty of room for imagination and exploration… This week that looked like wonderfully colourful paper constructions built around shape, balance and pure creative instinct! ⭐️

Shape. Balance. Imagination. No rules about what it had to look like - just the freedom to experiment and see where it went… Exactly the kind of brief that brings out the best in our young artists!
