We are over the moon to announce that REVIVING HER will tour in Spring 2027 thanks to funding from Arts Council England 🌙💃

We are sooooo excited to bring this story back to the stage - a bold, unapologetic exploration of what it means to be a woman today. It’s a raw and honest look at sisterhood, identity, freedom, anger, safety, vulnerability and everything in between. This show means so much to us, and we can’t wait to share it with a whole new audience.

Huge love to our small but mighty team for making this possible 🫶 and to Arts Council England for their continued belief in Northern Rascals.

Oh, and stay tuned because... audition announcement coming soon 👀

So... we've typed up our feedback cards for SUNNY SIDE 🥹

It's always a beautiful thing to hear from audience members who take the time to fill in our little feedback postcards. But every now and then, someone leaves something that completely stops us in our tracks.

One audience member responded to the show with this poem below. We're so touched that they shared it with us, and with their permission, we wanted to share it with you too:

Movement
Staged
Something shifted
Men on stage
The way they moved
Touching
Then not
Reach
Pull back
Again
And
Again
A weight between them
And i felt it
In my own chest
How bodies can speak
What mouths refuse
That you translate
And we observe
Anothers ache
And we recognise it
And maybe
This is it
This almost constant leaning
Toward something
Someone
To hold
To be held
Without having to ask

Thank you to Sara Christofi for trusting us with your words ❤️

Meet Sylvie - Creative Apprentice on Coiners! 🪙

Sylvie is originally from South East London but has been a creative based in Leeds for over 7 years. She is super passionate about creating dance theatre work that celebrates the UK’s regional heritage and folk histories, and how these live on within our communities.

Sylvie is also in the process of getting her new project, Yield, off the ground and into early development; exploring how Yorkshire’s colliery band and wider regional musical heritage can shape shared movement and relationships to land. It will culminate in a 40+ minute dance work featuring live music, with fundraising underway to support an Arts Council England application.

Northern Rascals announced as the first recipient of the prestigious new Dance In The North Co-Commission 🎉

Dance in the North is a consortium of 10 arts organisations committed to dance development and programming. Last year the consortium launched a £12,500 co-commission - and we are the first recipient with our proposal for Coiners!

Coiners is our new production inspired by the extraordinary true story of the Cragg Vale Coiners; an 18th-century counterfeiting gang from the Pennine hills.

Anna and Sam said:
"We're excited to use this opportunity to dream bigger, take artistic risks and deepen our relationships with communities across the North. The support of the Dance in the North partners will give us the time, space and expertise to explore where Coiners wants to go, while ensuring the work remains rooted in the people, places and stories that inspired it."

Sunny Side, the final day 💔

It felt like a strange, beautiful full circle at Riley Theatre on Saturday. Saying goodbye to SUNNY SIDE in the place where everything began was emotional in a way that’s hard to put into words. We’re so grateful to everyone at Northern School of Contemporary Dance for holding the final day with us 🫶

Mostly, we’re just full of love for EVERYONE who’s been part of SUNNY SIDE along the way. To our partners at Andys Man Club - thank you for your vital work, and for being part of this with us. And to Arts Council England for funding this final tour.

It’s been a privilege to tell K’s story. A story that, sadly, still echoes the lives of so many men across the UK. Many of us are struggling in ways that often go unspoken.

If this work has reminded us of anything, it’s the importance of reaching out. Checking in on each other. Saying what’s really going on. And making space for closeness, touch, and simple human connection - the kind that can quietly keep someone going.

One night changes everything 🪩

As life pulls them in different directions, childhood best friends K and Danny struggle to say what’s really going on beneath the surface. A powerful story about friendship, distance, and men’s mental health.
