Could you be our Persephone?🌻

Persephone is the goddess of spring in Hadestown and the wife of Hades. In this version of the myth, she becomes a vibrant, rebellious figure caught between two worlds: the warmth and freedom of the surface, and the cold industrial underworld of Hadestown🏢

She brings life, music, wine, and summer energy wherever she goes. She has a big personality that is charismatic and magnetic, witty and sarcastic. She is compassionate toward workers and outsiders and frustrated with Hades’ growing obsession with control. Unlike the imposing stillness of Hades, Persephone is full of movement, emotion, celebration, and nature🍷

Could you be our Hades?🏢

Hades is the ruler of the underworld city of Hadestown - a vast industrial machine where labour, order, and control define life. He is based on the Greek god of the dead, but reimagined as a capitalist-industrial ‘king’ figure.He doesn’t rule through chaos - he rules through systems⛓️

Hades is authoritative and commanding, emotionally repressed, deeply possessive in relationships yet surprisingly vulnerable beneath control. He believes security comes from structure, love must be controlled to be safe and uncertainty leads to collapse. Unlike traditional villains, he isn’t purely malicious - he is terrified of losing control of the world he has built🥀

Could you be our Eurydice?🌸

Eurydice is one of the most human-centred characters in Hadestown. She is a young woman trying to survive in a harsh, unstable world where warmth, food, and safety are never guaranteed. Unlike mythic portrayals that emphasize romance, this version focuses on survival first, love second. She’s not passive or naïve - she makes difficult choices based on immediate reality🕯️

Eurydice is practical, cautious, resilient, sharp-witted, emotionally guarded, deeply tired, but still hopeful in her own way⛓️

Could you be our Orpheus?🌹

Orpheus is the emotional heart of the musical: a poet, musician, and dreamer who believes deeply in the power of song, love, and hope. He’s based on the figure from Greek mythology, but Hadestown reimagines him as a young folk musician whose art feels almost supernatural✨

His music is said to move nature itself, soften hardened hearts, remind people of who they used to be and reconnect the world emotionally. At the centre of his story is the belief that beauty and compassion can survive even in cruel systems🤍
