Whilst I can’t take any personal credit for this (but boy do I wish I’d got to work on it!) I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the and for the unveiling of the new curtains ❤️

After I graduated from the Royal School of Needlework I went on to work in costume at the Royal Opera House, so this is the bringing together of two organisations I love and who have massively informed who I am. But what makes it even more special is that my lifelong friend Gemma was the Project Manager, the safest pair of hands 🥰 Well done Gemma, Anne and the studio team of the best embroiderers in the world 🌎

Whilst front of house is very quiet at House of Heyday, backstage is buzzing with activity! 🐝 Very soon I will have bought my new house and relocated to North Yorkshire which has been a LONG time coming! Me, my daughter and House of Heyday will finally have a home to call our own, where we can put all of our lovely things and get creative 🎨 I also have a big new project in the pipeline (it is me after all 😂) and when I’m not planning, packing and preparing I’ve got my nose in these books 📚 I’m sewing the seeds for the rest of this year- getting playful, working on fresh ideas and thinking about my future offerings along with continuing to work with my much loved 💛

In the meantime I have a question for you lovely folk- do you follow my page for my embroidery, or are you interested in whichever direction my work takes? I’m trying to decide if I should have a separate Instagram account for my new venture! All thoughts, comments and DM’s welcome 💋 Jessica x

All my life I have LOVED stationery, when I was a kid I had a Secret Stationery Society, which one day I’ll reinstate, and maybe this time with other members 😂 These days I not only hoard notebooks and go wild for a cute post-it, stationery is fundamental to how I organise my life 📝 I use a paper diary and have been loyal to for the last few years, and am now planning my week and keeping to-do lists with these beauties from 💖 Anyone else a stationery nerd like me? 🖋️

I love House of Heyday, it’s so much more than a business to me. It’s the home to my joy, a place to express myself, to escape from everything else and, best of all, it’s a community 💖

I don’t know where I’m going or what’s to come, and for the first time ever I’m ok with that. Here’s to a year of adventure, hygge, fun, joy, home, love and togetherness. From my house to yours 🏠😘

A few weeks ago I taught an embroidery class for at the beautiful Crathorne Hall in Yarm. There was a lady in the class who, when I checked in on her, was quietly but visibly upset. She was struggling to master a complex stitch and said she felt completely out of her depth. I reassured her, gave her options and let her decide what the right path for her was. She chose to stick with it, and the next day she said ‘this doesn’t seem so hard now!’

This is where the true magic is- in the beauty of embroidery, the laser focus sometimes needed to achieve the results you want, the quiet guidance, the total immersion, and the connection with yourself. I hope everyone who comes to my classes has a wonderful time and feels positive about themselves, but it’s also a huge privilege to witness someone overcoming their fears and anxieties with such courage and determination. Thank you for having me once again ! And a big thank you to our gorgeous Tour Manager Sue who always takes the best care of us 🪡💖🪡

Charlotte has finally arrived! 📝 I was originally asked to produce this piece by the lovely folk at Oakwell Hall, based on a portrait they have of Charlotte Brontë 🎨 I took a different approach to many of my other projects, combining art and embroidery skills and materials. I was also provided images of Charlotte’s handwriting which I painstakingly copied letter by letter to create the quote from Jane Eyre featured in the embroidery. It’s not exact but it’s as close to Charlotte Brontë’s actual handwriting as I could get 🕯️

This class is being held on Friday 17th October from 10am to 4pm , and bookings are open now! 🎟️

✨ Special Highlights ✨
🧵 Exclusive first access to my newly designed Charlotte Brontë portrait embroidery kit.
📜 Private viewing of a new exhibition celebrating the deep friendship between Charlotte Brontë, Ellen Nussey, and Mary Taylor.
🎨 Rare behind-the-scenes access to historic collection items with curator Frances Stonehouse — an opportunity not usually available to the public.
🌸 All set in the exquisite, atmospheric surroundings of Oakwell Hall, a place rich with Brontëan echoes.
🥗 Lunch and refreshments included, to enjoy a full day of inspiration and connection.

This event is ideal for lovers of hand embroidery, textile art, and devotees of the Brontës. Whether you’re passionate about historical craft or literary history, this day promises a truly meaningful and memorable experience. To book search for Kirklees Museums on Ticket Source, or visit the Oakwell Hall Country Park page 💖
