I posted earlier the details over the campaign I have started in order to reduce period poverty in the UK. You can visit the GoFundMe page linked in my bio. There are further details there and the option to donate. However I wanted to talk about the statistics as the humans they are. They are young girls at school confused and panicked with no access to the safe and hygienic necessary products, improvising and inflicting infection upon themselves through no fault of their own. They are struggling single mothers prioritising their children's needs over their own, going about their day uncomfortable added on top of the stress of menstruating anyway. They are young homeless women fleeing a diabolically home life and using unclean socks as sanitary towels as improvisation. Sanitary products are taxed as "luxury items" and although we carry on the fight to change this, in the mean time there is just a little each and everyone one of us can do to take away the panic, the risk and the uncomfortableness. I urge you to think about the privileged position you are in if you have never had to worry about having access to these necessities. Please think about the little it could cost you, to make a tremendous difference to a woman regardless of their age or circumstance. From the bottom of my heart thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and an even bigger thank you to anyone who finds the kindness in their heart to donate. Just a small reminder that a £5 donation could buy up to 5 packs of sanitary products, thus caring for 5 girls/women. Let’s stop waiting for change and make it happen together xXx
