The Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture is held annually and represents a celebration of both professional and amateur talent, creativity and community centred around Hailsham. Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture returns for its 19th year with a vibrant September programme that celebrates the creative and cultural community at the heart of Wealden. Taking place between the 6th and 21st September,

visitors are invited to join in and book a range of joyful, diverse and affordable events taking place in and around Hailsham. This year, new acts include Voices of Volya - a Ukrainian choir that performs locally, raising funds for medical equipment sent to frontline soldiers in Ukraine. In addition, there will be various live theatre acts, cult cinema screenings, Meet the Author events, Immersive theatre Jane Austen-style, Jazz, Pottery, Art Workshops at Gallery North, classical music recitals, a Carpenters Tribute … and much more. The annual Children’s Art competition & Creative Writing Competitions will all return. The Hailsham Art Trail is back - with local artists and makers showcasing their works of art in and around Hailsham’s retailers, cafes and restaurants. Weds 9th Sept:
💙🎨 Nature in Cyan Art Workshop Part 1 takes place at the Pumpkin Patch from 10am - 12pm. Participants will explore the art of cyanotype printing on fabric over a two week workshop. (Second date takes place on 16th).

Thurs 10th Sept:
📖✒️The Downland Poets: 2.30pm - 4.30pm: Join us for a free informal hour of shared poetry and light refreshments. Venue: Hailsham Parish Church Lounge

🎨🍾 Paint & Sip Evening: 6pm - 8pm at Off The Line Vineyard. Tickets are £25pp. An evening to unwind, relax and explore your creative side with a glass of locally produced wine. For last minute bookings please contact [email protected]

🔪☠ Murder Mystery Supper: 7pm - 10pm. Our sold-out show 'Murder on the Morlington Express' takes place at St Wilfrid's Church Hall. A fun evening of murder, mystery, double entendres and a ploughmans dinner.

Amongst the fabulous Opening Street Party Celebrations, our Children's Art Competition Exhibition went on public display at Gallery North - Hailsham showcasing wonderful artwork from children at local primary and secondary schools aged 5 through to 15. This year's themes included 'Prehistoric Worlds' and 'The World Around You'.

The artwork will be on display until the 19th September - please do pop in for a visit over the next two weeks. Gallery North opening times are Tues & Weds 10am - 1pm and Thurs to Sat 10am to 4pm.

On Saturday 12th September (2pm - 3pm) we will be holding an awards ceremony for all students whose artwork was judged in July. Prizes have been generously donated by Competition Sponsors Inc Lightning Fibre Bournefree Magazine Knockhatch Adventure Park Belle's Pottery Hailsham and Frameworks of Meads.
