Fancy spending a few hours surrounded by colourful fabrics and some creative stitching?

I’m running a special slow stitching workshop at Haddenham Arts Centre on Sunday 20th September, where we’ll be making a colourful Mexican/Frida Kahlo inspired covered notebook 🌺

I’ve been having great fun putting together a collection of bright, colourful fabrics, Mexican-inspired prints, embellishments and all sorts of lovely bits and pieces for you to rummage through and create with.

Everything you need is included (including the notebook) so you just need to bring yourself.

You don’t need to be an experienced stitcher either. There’s no pressure to make anything perfect and no need to know exactly what you’re doing. Slow stitching is about having a play with fabric, trying things out and seeing where your imagination takes you.

And of course there will be tea, cake and plenty of chatting along the way!

📅 Sunday 20th September
💷 £40 per person
🧵 All materials and notebook included

If you fancy coming along and spending a few hours making something colourful, completely unique and very much your own, drop me an email at [email protected]

I was very lucky to be interviewed and featured on BBC Cambridgeshire radio this morning!

They have a regular feature about discovering new hobbies, and Haddenham Arts Centre kindly invited me to talk about the slow stitching group I run there.

As I mention in the interview, what started as a small group has grown into a wonderful little community. Every other Thursday we get together to share creativity, stories, skills, ideas, laughter, cake and lots of cups of tea!

All of the work featured in this post (and in my pinned post of our wall hangings) has been created by members of the group. Every piece is completely different, which is exactly how it should be.

There's no pressure, no right or wrong, and definitely no expectation that everything has to be perfect... Slow stitching is all about slowing down, being creative, letting go of perfectionism and simply enjoying the process. It's amazing what can happen when you give yourself permission to play with fabric!

If you'd like to come along to the group, we'd love to see you! We meet from 10am-12pm every other Thursday at Haddenham Arts Centre. Just turn up - we'll supply the fabric, the tea and a very warm welcome.

If you'd like to hear my interview on BBC Sounds, I'm on at around the 1 hour 23 minute mark - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002zdfg?fbclid=PAb21jcATb6qZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA81NjcwNjczNDMzNTI0MjcAAafR9vw-BcHphgcKlUMxpkZML8E5xBIn6mM7VEQcc9cDwFuwUfHJyQip_DrOLg_aem_im8CLtKdEnrN-3iOPdFPsA&utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio

Just back from a lovely afternoon running a slow stitching workshop at the beautiful Houghton Mill - National Trust.

I was very proud to be the first workshop staged at the mill.

12 fantastic participants created beautiful and individual pieces, using the mill and its surroundings as inspiration.

Thanks Jack for inviting me!! 😀

Well this was an unexpected Turkish delight!!

Turns out I had completely impacted ears on both sides. What should have been a quick 5 mins turned into a 2 man job taking an hour, endless syringes of water in the worlds biggest syringe, two injections, antibiotics, anti inflammatories, antibiotic ear drops, nasal spray and a slightly alarming 2nd Dr trip today to ensure I was fit to fly! I am huzzah!!

I was meant to be nursing Vikki Browning
Not the other way round!!

Thank you Vikki xx

Currently in Turkey....and sorting threads ahead of my workshops with the National Trust on 19th July. (link in bio if you want to book last few spaces)

Watery colours and a case of art imitating life or life imitating art?! Either way...too hot to think about it! Just enjoying the view 😀
