WOW, today was incredible 💙

I’m very grateful to Otley Coffee Culture for organising another amazing & wholesome event filled with delicious coffee, talented creatives and the loveliest people. Thank you 🙏🏻

A massive thanks if you bought from me, said hello or started following today. I’m so grateful and honestly so glad to have met you all and hope to see you again! 🫶🏻

Today was my most successful market to date and I said goodbye (sniff 🥲) to 10 original paintings, each one heading to a lovely home.

So for this prompt, I thought I’d turn each challenge into a positive within my small business. There have been A LOT of challenges (and still are) but here are a few that came to mind straight away.

Having a small creative business is so much fun, but I think it will always come with hurdles.
One thing I do love about this part of my life is the community of other creatives who support each other and keep us going in these challenging moments! 🤍

It’s been a very long time coming but I’m finally getting organised and planning a calendar for 2027! The first and only time I’ve done this was for 2022 🤭

Here’s one of the months in progress but I’m yet to choose which!

There is still a lot to do but I’m very excited and hope you’ll love it!

Prompt 5.) WHY YOU MAKE
Being creative has ALWAYS been part of my life in different forms.
When I started painting with watercolour it was a way to be creative and to help combat my anxiety but now (a couple of years later) it’s brought me so many more reasons to make ⬇️

1. THERAPY- watercolour has helped massively with my mental health and my with building my confidence.
2. BRINGING JOY- To make other people happy makes me happy.
3. EDUCATION- I’m forever learning. Everyday is a school day and it’s fascinating learning new techniques and about each creature I learn to draw and paint.
4. COMMUNITY- Art has introduced me to an amazing community of creatives, supporting each other and making friends.
5. PROUD- It makes ME happy and I enjoy it so why wouldn’t I?

Prompt 4.) WHAT YOU MAKE

If you come visit me at my stall at a market or craft fair you’ll see a selection of ocean life and wildlife inspired GREETINGS CARDS, PRINTS and ORIGINAL PAINTINGS all designed by me.

I’ve also added a couple of newer items including BOOKMARKS, NOTEBOOKS and STICKERS which I’ll be continuing to expand with more choice in the near future.

As always, I try to be as sustainable as possible so I only use compostable or recyclable packaging and a combination of recycled and uncoated paper within my business.

Shop small, shop local and shop sustainable. 🤍

Prompt 3.) TRIAL & ERROR

As a self taught artist there are lots of things that I’ve tried and failed at but here is the most recent one that involved stickers and my logo.

I recently ordered some pre-cut logo sticker sheets but unfortunately the cut lines weren’t aligned with my logo.
So I’m stuck with these stickers which are perfectly fine but the backing is sliced!

Next time I don’t think I’ll opt for precut and do it myself! 🤦‍♀️
