People often think being an artist is all about creating.

The truth is, creating is only one part of it.

Some of the best opportunities in my career have come from meeting people, building relationships, and having conversations.

Not because I walked into a room trying to sell my work.

But because people buy from people.

Collectors, gallery owners, interior designers, art consultants, business owners, journalists, event organisers… it all starts with a conversation.

Yesterday’s Global Woman event in Mayfair was a great reminder of that.

You never know which conversation will lead to a friendship, a collaboration, an opportunity, or a collector discovering your work for the first time.

That’s why I keep showing up.

I’ve never been interested in creating art that simply matches a sofa. The paintings people remember are usually the ones that make them feel something.
And that feeling doesn’t have to be deep or complicated. Sometimes it’s simply: Wow, I love that.
Sometimes it’s: That’s interesting. Or: I’ve never seen anything quite like that before. Sometimes it reminds you of a place, a person, or a moment you can’t quite put into words.

The feeling itself isn’t important. What matters is that the piece stays with you. You keep thinking about it.
You notice it every time you walk into the room and you would miss it if it wasn’t there.

That’s usually when you know you’ve found the right artwork.

HOW TO CHOOSE ORIGINAL ART WHEN YOU DONT UNDERSTAND ART?

One thing I hear all the time is: I love art, but I don’t know anything about it.

My answer is always the same. You don’t need to.
Buying original art isn’t an exam. You don’t need an art degree. You don’t need to know art history.
You don’t need to understand what the artist meant.

Art is personal. What one person loves, another person might walk straight past. And that’s exactly how it should be.

The best pieces are usually the ones you connect with, not the ones you think you’re supposed to like.
Trust yourself more than you think. ❤️
