On Saturday, we had the opportunity to take part in an engaging poetry workshop led by Holly Wickham Serpentine Designs During the session, we explored various poetic forms, diving into the intricacies of reading and analysing established works while also crafting our own original pieces.
The workshop sparked lively discussions among the group about themes, techniques, and the emotional impact of poetry. It certainly changed some perspectives on this versatile art form! ✒️.

Our last studio session saw some impromptu photography, painting, fibre arts and 3D scanning with Polycam. We also discovered it’s entirely possible to digitally scale up a sculpture and jump on it with a virtual avatar. The more you know!

Huge thanks as always to for supporting these sessions and to for the use of their space 😄❤️

A packed studio session to end the year- sketching rats, crocheting axolotls, sculpting deep-sea creatures and everything in between… honestly, if it exists (or doesn’t), you'll probably find it here 😂

What a brilliant session, roll on January! 🎄🎄🎄

We had an amazing time at our Glass Doodles workshop with Serpentine Designs on Saturday! 🎨✨

It turns out that drawing freehand directly on curved glass is quite challenging, but we’re pleased to report that everyone gave it a try and achieved some fantastic results!

We can’t wait until the next one… 👀✨

We had a fantastic time at our Art Club’s studio session last week, supported by artist Sophie Dickinson, who brought an abundance of positive energy and encouragement to the group ✨

We were busy with a variety of activities, from crochet to creative writing. Some of us explored new ideas through bid writing, and we even experimented with a virtual exhibition platform (stay tuned for updates!).

This was also our first session in our temporary home on the first floor of the careers café in Freshney Place. Huge thanks to the team for their warm welcome!

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We are gaining momentum within our creative community, and things are becoming very exciting indeed! 💜

The Flower Toad 🌺🐸

During breeding season, male toads are selected for breeding by the female based on the health and colouration of their flower. This process imbues spawn with a seed that grows with the toad in a symbiotic fashion.

As a toadlet grows, it consumes insects and foliage in prodigious quantities to facilitate the flower's growth. Once the flower grows, it produces energy through photosynthesis that it shares with the toad.

The toad eventually becomes an ambush predator feasting on insects attracted to the flower, and the flower's pollination is carried out by the toad, which gravitates towards matching flower patches. Flower toads are also used in conservation, as toads are bred to bear specific flowers and released into areas to repopulate them over the winter. These toads burrow in the flower patches they have created, protecting them from larger foraging creatures from unearthing them before spring comes. The spring sun wakes the toad through the flower blooming alongside the rest of the spring foliage.

Plucky little traffic cone🚦🚧⚠

Once upon a time, there was a plucky little traffic cone who was very different from the other miscellaneous traffic objects. Imbued with sentience by Pazuzu during a demonic Mesopotamian ceremony in a layby in East Hackney, the plucky little traffic cone began his heroic quest to prove that, despite your upbringing, you can still be a good egg. We love you, Plucky little traffic cone! 💜

Meet the Scorpion Frog 🐸

This is a Jumping Frog with a Scorpion tale adaptation. The frog is a rainforest creature that uses its poison tail to protect itself from predators. When it kills a predator, the frog will remain near the co**se to feed on insects attracted to the co**se. The frog lays its spawn, which attaches to the frog's tail. When they hatch, they consume the parent's tail and absorb the poison, which gives the young a bright red warning colouration.

The young start with a short tail which grows as they mature, and their colours change from red to green. Mature frogs may turn aggressive in times of low predation, hunting and killing larger creatures to create breeding conditions.

These frogs have low sexual dimorphism, but male frogs tend towards being attracted to co**ses to match the female tendency to create said co**se as the carrier of the young.

At Saturday's Art Club, we explored Fantasy Sculptures with Jack Johnson from . We learned about creature anatomy and world-building, as well as the importance of using armatures for larger pieces. After that, we got hands-on and sculpted our own small-scale creations using polymer clay, drawing from both reference materials and our imaginations. Thanks to EternalSFX for the session and also to Andy Forrester for the photos!
