Here's our creative exercise of the day to get your creative juices flowing:
✏️ Explore only one letter. Pick the first letter of your first name, and fill a blank piece of paper with that letter for 10 to 15 min. 🎨
Don't worry about what it looks like, its just a warm up exercise. Remove all expectations of what it's supposed to look like or what it's supposed to be.
What are all the different ways you can make a letter? Think about all the different ways people make letterforms. It could be conceptual, artistic, expressive, etc. Think about who you are. What represents you? How could you represent who you are in a fun and expressive way through typography?
Try to make shapes, words, or squiggly marks on the paper and don't worry about what it looks like. The only requirement is to fill the page up with the same letter (it's up to you how you do it). Remember to explore, have fun, and just go with the flow. We recommend doing three or four pages of these letters while also making sure you don't repeat the exact same style.
Once you're done, hang it up on the wall somewhere. Look at your piece from afar, and then pick one letter style out of all the ones your drew and draw your whole name out in another piece of blank paper with that style. We recommend using tracing paper so you can trace the original name, and then do various different versions of it.😜
We would love to see what you come up with, so please make sure to follow us on Instagram and share your outcomes in the comments below or on Instagram using the hashtag , for a chance to win a fabulous art prize. A winner will be chosen on Monday 5th of November at 5:00pm London time.
