It’s the Whitechapel Gallery First Thursdays event tonight and we are delighted to be listed on their website as a gallery to visit this evening.
Our special open event this evening from 6-9pm will offer all visitors to the gallery a chance to meet with the curator and some of the artists to hear more about the works included in Nature/Nurture. A great opportunity to find out about this fascinating group show curated by artist Tilla Crowne
Here we see the beautiful and intricate works on paper by Jacqueline Nicholls.

Our curator artist Tilla Crowne appears colour-coded with her fantastic installation’Screaming Bath’ currently on show at Leyden Gallery as part of the Nature/Nurture exhibition. Continues until 27th Oct.
We are now preparing for our next event on Thursday 6th Oct when we will welcome visitors to the gallery as part of the Whitechapel Gallery First Thursdays event- from 6 -9pm.

‘Fold’ by Anna Levy is one of several paintings presented by the artist in Nature/Nurture that explore space as entity in its relationship to light and mood.

‘Supper is on the Table ‘ is one of the domestic-themed artworks presented by Emma Grant exploring ideas of fragility, erosion and time.
The matrilineal link in this piece is presented via a red thread which connects once again in another piece and another family.

We are looking for someone with …⁠
• Practical experience of gallery preparation and installation – getting up close and personal with the artworks.⁠
• Social Media experience – we really want to engage with our audience!⁠
• An interest in helping out with events.⁠
• With ideas they can put into practice.⁠
• Interested in collaborating with a corporate body and independent gallery.⁠

The duration of the internship will be 3-5 months.⁠

Absolutely loved tonight’s Drink&Draw online session. A great group of people committed to having a good time whilst producing some fabulous drawings. We had a flamboyance of flamingos and a whiteness of Swans make a surprise appearance. You never quite know what to expect at Leyden Gallery Drink&Draw. You can book a space for next Thursday to get in on the fun and develop your drawing skills.
