THE ORIGIN OF GBST ❤️
My producing journey started in 2018 with The Hoxton Cabaret at The Queen of Hoxton. After the pandemic, we tried to come back but decided there were already enough shows with a similar model. I made the decision not to return to producing until I had a unique selling point. 💰

Then came The Great British St******se. I was researching on YouTube for my 80s stripper act and came across a 1980 video of a st******se contest in Blackpool. It featured amateur women with normal jobs who got naked and danced to a band to win £500. I googled the VHS distributor- the company was liquidated. I looked at the artwork, bold 80s characters, colour, illustrations and fonts. I fell in love. Minus the host, I loved everything about the contest. It wasn’t polished, the girls wore simple costume or lingerie pieces, and they danced to a live band. It brought me joy.💞

I trademarked the name, the artwork and she became mine.😏

We’re now in our 3rd year, changing the show a little each year to see what works. This year we’re offering our first weekender in London! 19 performers, 2 shows and 4 workshops. 🫨🫨🫨🫨
