ITS IMPORTANT for the circus industry in general and so many of our performer friends.

UK circus must be granted the Intangible Cultural Heritage Status !

We are actively campaigning for the inclusion of circus in the UK’s Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) to ensure its recognition and survival.

This designation would recognize the unique culture of travelling show people and the artistic, historic, and community value of the circus, helping to secure its future.

The campaign aims to protect this living art form of the circus, which is a vital, evolving cultural tradition.

Securing ICH status is crucial for supporting the unique lifestyle of circus families, aiding with access to education and healthcare.

The Association of Circus Proprietors (ACP) sees this recognition as vital to protecting the industry, which is facing challenges and will benefit all within the circus industry not just ACP members.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is currently drawing up an inventory of ICH items in the UK this petition is designed to highlight our campaign and will be a HUGE HELP towards gaining the recognition the circus art form truly deserves.

The DCMS is drawing up an inventory of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items following the signing of the UNESCO treaty on 'ICH'. We want circus and fairgrounds to be recognised on that inventory.
