We’re really pleased to see the new report from Creative Lives now published (link below 👇)
YarMakers began back in 2023, made possible through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Know Your Neighbourhood fund, distributed via Arts Council England and Creative Lives.
From the outset, the focus was simple but powerful:
how can creativity support social connection, reduce loneliness, and inspire pride in place?
This new report brings together learning from across the country >> all the places, people, and projects it has touched.
The combined findings show that community-led creative activity can:
• improve wellbeing
• strengthen social connections
• create volunteering opportunities
• build pride in place and a sense of belonging
It’s fantastic that Great Yarmouth has been part of this. Not just as a participant, but as a place where this work has taken root and continues to grow.
Since its beginning, YarMakers has become a catalyst for ongoing activity:
>> developing an accessible making and crafting offer for anyone to enjoy, and building a brilliant, growing community of local makers (some new to the challenge and some who are more experienced) who are leading the sessions and shaping what happens next...
