Fancy a coffee????

🍂 🍁 🍃

Hey, full disclosure, September is a quiet month for me so I’m heading into autumn with an aim to reach out to more local creatives, get new projects in motion and start paying back all the advice and support I’ve had over the years.

Let’s go!

I’ve secured a little over £100,000 Arts Council project funding since 2022, including for community outreach, workshops, creative development and small-scale touring, and partnered local and national museums, arts organisations and communities. I know some s**z.

I’m offering free 30 minute sessions to discuss new projects …well…for the price of an oat flat white 😬

If you choose to continue working together after that, we’ll discuss the options, if not, no worries, i will have met some more local creatives with exciting projects and you will have received some top tops, win:win, amiright ?!

Dm for a chat. Can’t wait to hear from you!

“What we are very happy about is working with the arts to try to bring into focus the human factor, the human cost”
Simon Measures, Chair of SAVE HEMSBY COASTLINE

When
The
Tide
Comes

🌊 As we begin to plan the tour and surrounding activities for Spring ‘27, there’s a little time to consider what we’ve done so far and the impact it’s having.
🌊
The more awareness people have of what’s happening in Hemsby, the more people feel inspired to action.
🌊
And nothing hits harder than the reality of human experience.

Thank you

And all our creatives and community contributors

Time to reflect on the past year of R&D for

When
The
Tide
Comes

🌊

The tragic mismanagement of ‘s fast moving coastal erosion is a story of our times. They describe themselves as the canaries of climate change. They’re not wrong.

🌊

I’m incredibly proud of this project.

🌊

Our exhibition of creative outcomes and discussions about how the coast is changing with Time & Tide Museum ‘s family, home school and ‘talk’ groups.

🌊

Getting to know the residents and holiday makers of Hemsby and revisiting the spots that my family have visited for generations.

🌊

Developing our approach to climate discussion…thinking about positive and embodied action…

“This is a really significant project”

🌊 I spent most of this week on a writing retreat in

Self-imposed…decidedly un-bougie…just the ticket!

🌊

I had holidayed here as a kid…it’s changed but it’s also exactly the same.

🌊

The biggest changes are the scars left behind by recent demolitions and the relentless North Sea.

When
The
Tide
Comes

Took down our display in ‘s Red Herring Gallery today…

🌊

Unsettlingly quick and simple to take down...it’s always easier to take it all away than install, we said.

We’ve had salt dough models, zines, pictures, and audio from interviews conducted with Hemsby’s community since May ‘25, on display in our own little corner of the museum for the last 3 months.

We’re inviting people to consider their relationship to the coast and the people living around it. Do you ever think about the coast and how it’s changing? For many of us in Norfolk this is no longer a choice but an urgent question…we’re urgently seeking solutions from central government that are coming at a much slower rate than the North Sea.

🌊

Thinking of our friends in Hemsby now more than ever.

Thank you for supporting this year long R&D.
And all of our supporters and partner organisations including and and of course

Work(shop), work(shop), work(shop)…!!!

Decided to make 2026 the year of workshops and it’s working out pretty well so far!!

and I will team up for the first time to deliver a workshop THIS SUNDAY as part of a series of planned activities by .

We’ll be exploring ‘The Female Body As An Autonomous Zone’. Poppy has been exploring this topic through her practice as a performance artist for many years.

I’m so excited to have the opportunity co-create our own ‘autonomous zone’ at Cambridge Junction and explore my own work through an entirely new lens.

We did a thing!!!

Yesterday marked the launch of a series of verbatim workshops…we spent the entire day with an awesome group from Artist Network.

We’ve reached a point in our practice where we’re ready to share our processes (we’ll let you in on a secret, it changes every time 😜) and everything we’ve learned the hard way (by making several verbatim and docutheatre touring shows since 2019 😏)

We 💚 💙 🩵 verbatim theatre, and think you just might too 😬😬😬

Can’t wait to share some delicious video feedback from our participants in the coming days…

Give us a shout if you’re interesting in us visiting your school, community or theatre space, we’d love to chat.

📕 📖 📕

Visiting, or re-visiting, The Verbatim Greats as I prepare to write our next show ‘When The Tide Comes’, honouring the words of locals and highlighting the tragic mismanagement of the people at the literal cliff face of coastal erosion in the UK …have I missed anyone?? All recommendations very welcome please.

Mostly
📖
[as many as I could get my hands on…so far…]
📖
David Hare ‘The Permanent Way’ about the privatisation of our railways
📖
And of course ‘London Road’ …based up the road in …we won’t be making a musical but there’s something really beautiful about the use of repetition in lyrics while remaining true to the interview material.

🌊
Also tucked away in there
📖
‘Theory of Water’
