Our aim is to offer museum grade supports and surfaces at affordable prices for all professional artists, from the emerging artist to the internationally established. Artist Surfaces believe that the support for an artwork should reflect the same commitment to excellence and craftsmanship that the artist exemplifies through

their work. Thus the support can be understood to be integral to the success, longevity and value of an artwork. Artist Surfaces only use the museum grade materials to produce our Painting Panels and Stretcher Bars. Artist Surfaces will be continually developing and expanding our supports and surfaces to offer the most comprehensive choice of supports and surfaces available to the professional artist on the market.

Open Northfleet Introducing the next member of the Open Northfleet collective... 🥳

Matthew Atkinson is an internationally exhibiting contemporary artist, Founder & Co-Director of Artist Surfaces, and Co-Director of Clubb's Yard Studios in Northfleet. 🤩

Represented by Alessandro Albanese Gallery (Milan), Matthew combines his painting practice with a passion for supporting artists and building creative communities. Artist Surfaces fabricate museum-grade painting panels and stretchers for artists worldwide. Clubb's Yard Studios provides affordable workspaces, exhibitions, residencies, and events that champion creativity in Northfleet.

As a member of the Northfleet Creative Steering Group, Matthew is helping shape the future of Open Northfleet, championing arts, culture, and creative legacy to establish Northfleet as a thriving destination for creativity.

Georgia will be joining us in Napa to hand-paint a custom oak cabinet by , bringing her intuitive, nature-inspired practice directly into the space. A shared exploration of how art can live within a home. Stay tuned – more to come.

Working with the brilliant .scrivener on these striking new pieces was a real pleasure. Scrivener’s work explores systems, repetition, order, chance and visual transformation. Ideas that come through powerfully in these bold geometric compositions and layered colour structures.

For this project, we fabricated bespoke shaped floating panels specifically to support the artist’s unconventional formats and sculptural presentation. The floating subframe creates the illusion that each work hovers cleanly from the wall while maintaining rigidity.

It’s always rewarding when technical fabrication becomes an invisible extension of the artwork itself.
