What a great day out in Retford for the NODA East Midlands Awards (Districts 1 to 5). We came away with two award wins, for the entire ensemble of Calendar Girls and the programme for And Then There Were None! 🎉

In presenting the Calendar Girls award, NODA rep for our district, Kei Bailey, praised the entire ensemble for "working together with trust, generosity and genuine connection...creating believable friendships, supporting one another in every scene, and bringing warmth, humour and emotions to the stage as a unified company"

"The award also recognises the work of directors Mark Brown and Sophie Read, who clearly fostered that spirit of collaboration and chemistry...Their thoughtful direction brought the cast together as a cohesive ensemble, allowing every performer to shine while always serving the story as a whole."

"Congratulations to a company that demonstrated the very best of ensemble theatre." Wow! Thank you, Kei, for the award and for these wonderful words!

Helen Pack was nominated for Best Director for And Then There Were None, but was sadly beaten to the post.

Thank you NODA East Midlands - Amateur Theatre in your region for a great day.

There's still time for you to meet Honest Patch Perkins in Come On, Jeeves! at The Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham

He's your friendly local bookmaker, and you can find him in the silver ring. Always with the best odds, and absolutely, definitely honest.

He looks an awful lot like Lord Bill, though...

Set and costumes looking brilliant, actors ready and raring - it must be dress rehearsal! And that means it's opening night tomorrow.

Time to get excited/nervous, depending which side of the curtain you sit 🎭

Come along to Towcester Abbey and see the mayhem unfold. Don't worry, Jeeves will fix it - won't he?!

And last, but very much not least, is our very own Jeeves, played by Bob Bayman. Another newcomer to GDS, Bob has slotted perfectly into place, reviving a former hobby on the stage and making great friends in the Society.

Does Jeeves need an introduction? Just in case you're not familiar, Jeeves is the indispensable gentleman's gentleman. A valet par excellence. He not only keeps his charges tidy, well-dressed and organised, he offers sage advice and a great skill with schemes. In the midst of a crisis? Jeeves knows what to do.

Come and see how he does it - opening night is tomorrow! Tickets: https://www.guildhallartscentre.com/whats-on/all-shows/come-on-jeeves

Tonight has been our technical rehearsal, practicing lighting and sound effects and ensuring the practical elements of the show work. Here are a few teasers of what you can expect! Doesn't it look stunning? Remember, as a tech rehearsal only some costumes have been worn 👍

It's a very warm welcome back to Alex Crisp, who made a memorable debut with GDS in November's And Then There Were None as the killer's first victim. He brings all his charm and wit to this role, as Lord Bill Towcester aka Honest Patch Perkins, the runaway bookie!

Lord Bill is your quintessential hapless English nobleman, fallen on hard times and struggling to make ends meet. Moonlighting as a bookie, he makes a serious error and ends up having to make a rapid escape. He'll try anything - with Jeeves' help - to square the circle. But will he succeed?

Find out in Come On Jeeves, opening at the The Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham on Wednesday 3 June. Runs until Saturday 6 June. Tickets: https://www.guildhallartscentre.com/whats-on/all-shows/come-on-jeeves

From arriving at The Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham this morning, to an assembled set - what a brilliant day's work by our team!

This set is masterminded by the very talented (but camera-shy) Tom McKay, with many members of cast and crew helping out 👏👏👏

Lots of set dressing still to happen to fully create the ancestral seat of the Towcesters, Towcester Abbey. Come down and see the finished product in Come On, Jeeves! Opens Wednesday 🎭
