Getting back into it and we have the Hot Sri Lankan Chutney on the go today…I’ve got several other makes to do this weekend but also trying to sort out after having some work done in the house!!! Half the onions at our allotment started to bolt (flower) with all this dry weather last month, and they stop growing at this point…so harvest and process…the greens are in the dehydrator for onion powder, I’ve chopped the bulbs and frozen most of them in portion sizes, then I’ve kept some more ready for the popular Hot Sri Lankan Aubergine Chutney as the The Trash Cafe Network had some aubergines yesterday…only way I’ll eat them 😳🤣….ecofreaksuk Wicor Primary School Genesis Centre - Locksheath … ❤️♻️

As you are all aware it’s been a bit warm lately so nothing made this week I have been taking the labels off jars and giving them a good wash so we are ready to start again 😁…still got lots of Kiwi in the freezer but also apple, plum, blueberry, runner beans, chillies and peppers, oranges and blackberry amongst others 😳 …not mentioning the rhubarb that is ready to harvest at the allotment 😁 ecofreaksuk Wicor Primary School elsonlibrary The Trash Cafe Network

Edit…unfortunately Genesis Centre has been postponed ☹️

Tonight’s make is the Orange Marmalade with the fruit coming from The Trash Cafe Network and also some Spiced Plum Jam with fruit from Wicor Primary School along with the starting process for some Elderberry Jelly which the school also produces….to events this weekend, one at the school on Saturday and the other at Genesis Centre - Locksheath on Sunday 😁….-

A busy weekend coming up with an Eco Fayre at Wicor Primary School and Art & Craft Market at Genesis Centre - Locksheath…come along and see lots of goodies at either event 😁…the cheese on toast (or rather our version of Welsh Rabbit) had a Damson Chutney on which was rich and deep in flavour, a fantastic pairing 😁….now I have some more jam and marmalade to make 😳🤔…The Trash Cafe Network ecofreaksuk

Popped into The Trash Cafe Network this morning and got onions, chillies and oranges so a Caramelised Red Onion Chutney, a Golden Kiwi Sweet Chilli Chutney and Orange Marmalade!!! Rhubarb from our Gosport Allotment and Apples from Wicor Primary School (that were stewed in Cider but I needed to sieve it as it had the pips in there along with the peel !) Now on occasion I will leave the peel on as, along with the pips, it contains more pectin which helps with setting the jams… This has made a lovely gently flavoured jam which will be great on a scone or in a cake 😁… # # homemade ….
