Affiliated with: Association of Animal Artists After approximately a year of drawing, starting with just pencil and moving through different mediums to find what she felt worked best for her, Dee settled on soft pastels and pastel pencils as her favourite medium. She had also gone f
rom drawing just simple outline drawings and moved on too much more detailed drawings, this is when she started getting requests from friends and family to draw a family pet or a favourite animal of theirs, wanting to look a little more professional Dee named her work DeeDackelsaArt, a name chosen by using her name, her favourite breed of dogs name. As much as Dee loves to draw and paint and paint, she was never quite satisfied with her results, she always felt she could do better. That was until she found Sculpting. Dee's biggest love and her newest love is sculpting. She has made approx. 10 air dry clay sculptures now and the feedback she's had back from people has been remarkable. Dee now sculpts using clay that needs firing to complete them, once fired Dee will glaze the sculptures with a matt glaze usually, unless its an animal that needs a shine, then she will put them back into her kiln to fire again, to set the glaze and finish the sculpture. I'm pretty sure by the time Dee has finished, her home will be filled with every animal she has managed to sculpt. Dee will continue to draw now and then, but her sculpting is her priority and she hopes with all heart that one day she will be a successful sculptor and with it and become a professional sculptor working with galleries too. If you'd like to know anything about Dee's sculptures, how she creates them, where she gets her idea's, or if you want to see the process, please do feel free to contact Dee, she is always happy to talk about sculpting, along with Dachshunds.
