Thank you to everyone who bought snacks, teas and lunches from TYKES.

It was absolutely brilliant to have hot soup, yummy sandwiches and delicious cakes available on site. Well done - and thank you TYKES 🙌👏

We would like to say a huge thank you to Jennifer Port for asking TYKES to provide refreshments at this years Golspie local Mòd.

Not only did we raise an incredible amount, but also helped spread awareness of the work that we do for Young Carers across Sutherland.

Our staff were on the go from 7:30am and didn't stop all day - so no pictures unfortunately!

A really great day had by all.

One final thank you from me to you all…

Apart from the stress of no-one unlocking the Community Centre and High School (I promise I had made the booking 🤭), our Mòd seemed to go reasonably well. Huge thanks to Heather and Eleanor who responded quickly and got us into the buildings and helping to get the day underway.

It was absolutely brilliant to see Golspie High School buzzing to the sounds of music, dancing and Gaelic. Happy faces and the most beautiful singing of audience and choirs together in the afternoon.

I received an amazing 182(!) pieces of art for the Art Competition at the Mòd.

Local artist Jennifer Mackenzie had the unenviable job of judging the various categories which were split into each class/year group. Thank you so much Jennifer!

Displayed below are the ‘top 6’ for each class and the overall winner was Gailam from Tain Primary who won the Kate Ross Memorial Trophy 🏆

Prize winners and trophies…

I’m sorry to say that it wasn’t possible to include a prizewinners’ concert at the Golspie Mòd, as quite simply, there wasn’t enough time left in the day to squeeze it in!

I did consider having a concert at the end of the Mòd, but many competitors indicated that they needed to get away for one reason or another.

Mòd badges, for each competition will be given out at the end of the category/class and if there is a trophy for that competition, it will also be awarded at the end of each category.

This should streamline the day and prevent us all still being at the Mòd at 11pm! 🤭🤣

A few words of appreciation

To access the Community Centre, drive along the Back Road and then turn as though you’re going to the swimming pool. Continue past the swimming pool and down a small slope and the community centre will be in front of you.

Parking will likely be limited, given how many competitors there are, so I’ve used a google maps image and marked all car parking options in my ‘poorly drawn’ red lines 🤣

You can park at:
The Community Centre
The swimming pool
The Golspie high school car park
The back of Golspie high school (via the entrance at the Health Centre)
In Fountain Road car park
Along the bays on the Main Street

Entry to the Mòd is via the Community Centre only. Please do not attempt to access Golspie High School

Calling all bakers 🎂 🧁 🍰

If anyone would like to donate baking on Saturday June 6th, then Tykes Young Carers - Public Page are going to be selling teas, cakes, soup & sandwiches to raise funds for TYKES - The Young (K)carers East Sutherland in Golspie Community Centre at the Golspie Mòd.

If you are able to bring some baking, then please hand it in at Golspie Community Centre ANYTIME between 9.30am and 1pm (not just in the morning, as TYKES will be selling them throughout the day)
