There’s something special about practising Kintsugi at Westonbirt Arboretum.

Surrounded by trees and open space, the work of careful repair feels even more grounding - a chance to slow down, focus the hands, and step away from the noise of everyday life.

Workshops run throughout the year, and there are just a few spaces remaining for May.

If you’d like to join, you can find dates and booking details via the link in my bio.

I’ll be sharing Kintsugi at the Bristol Japanese Cultural Showcase on Sunday 12th April.

It’s always an honour to teach this practice in spaces that celebrate Japanese culture more widely; connecting craft, history and philosophy.

I’ll be guiding participants through the traditional techniques and the deeper meaning behind the art of repair.

Details and booking are available on my website.

In a Kintsugi workshop, the focus narrows. Attention moves to the brush, the lacquer, the careful alignment of broken edges. Conversations soften. Time slows.

It’s not just about repair, it’s about presence.

What I often notice is how naturally community forms around the table. People begin as strangers and, through the shared act of making, become connected. There’s something powerful about creating alongside others: quietly encouraging, sharing stories, holding space.

Craft has always brought people together. Kintsugi simply offers a gentle framework for that connection.

Slow work. Shared tables. Meaningful conversation.

That, for me, is just as important as the finished piece.

A few slow hours of mending, making, and being together.

Join me to learn kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by honouring the cracks rather than hiding them. Rooted in wabi sabi, it celebrates the irregular, the quirky, and things that have changed with time.

Expect hands busy, kettle on, moments of quiet focus and conversations that drift and return. We’ll work step by step using epoxy, traditional urushi lacquer and glowing brass powder. No experience needed, all materials provided.

A relaxed, welcoming workshop in q***r company, shaped by craft, care, and connection.

You’re welcome exactly as you are 🫖 👐

There’s something about spring that feels aligned with Kintsugi.

Light returning.
Gentle beginnings.
The sense that quiet work beneath the surface is ready to be seen.

In each workshop, broken pieces are carefully repaired. Not to hide the cracks, but to honour them.

Spring feels like a reminder that renewal doesn’t have to be dramatic. It can be slow. Patient. Intentional.

Workshops are running across Gloucestershire and Bristol this season.

I’ll be at on 6th March for a Kintsugi workshop.

Stroud feels like the perfect setting for this practice - rooted in craft, clay and community.

We’ll spend the session learning traditional Kintsugi techniques, working carefully with lacquer and metal, and creating something beautiful from the broken.

If you’d like to join us, spaces can be booked via the link in my bio.

Much of Kintsugi happens slowly, quietly, and almost invisibly.

Layer by layer, the repair is built with careful attention; waiting, observing, adjusting. There’s no rushing the process. Each stage requires presence.

This slowness is not an obstacle; it’s the point.
It’s where care lives, and where transformation becomes possible.

January can be a tender time for teams.

After a busy end to the year, many people return to work feeling tired, reflective, or disconnected - even as expectations quickly ramp up again.

My Kintsugi workshops offer a different kind of wellbeing space. A chance to slow down, work with the hands, and share a calm, creative experience together.

They’re especially suited to January; supporting focus, connection, and a gentler return to rhythm.
