Pottery painting sessions, baby print keepsakes and clay experiences. Regional winners x3 years! About Me:

I am Tracey, the Director, Manager, PA, Promotions, Marketing, HR, Admin, Crafter, and tea lady at Dixie Dot Crafts! I'm a 45 year old Mum to a 13 year old Son and a 13 year old Bonus-daughter that came on a BOGOF deal when I met her Dad. We live in Hempsted with our noisy cat, Ziggy! I love

sunshine, the smell of petrol, bright colours and Pimms! About Us:

Dixie Dot Designs was born in 2013 after making lots of lovely homemade handmade delights for my friends and then being asked if I could make some for them to give as gifts too! I embraced a new love of crafting, eventually venturing out in to teaching people what I'd learnt. I soon realised there was a big need to teach larger groups of people and wanted to start a business encouraging people into finding new hobbies and getting children to embrace their creative side. Dixie Dot Crafts opened in May 2017 in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire and within weeks we had outgrown the original space which was unable to accommodate all our lovely new customers! By Christmas that year we had secured larger premises to be our new home. The studio moved a mile down the road to Kingsway in March 2018 and is three times the size of the old one!

2020 bought the start of 'Dixie Dot on Tour' - taking all we offer out into the local communities but was brought to an abrupt (temporary) halt with the arrival of Covid! CoronaVirus did have two positive effects though - bringing forward plans for our retail business (the Dixie Dot Shop) where you can buy all manner of craft kits, gifts and lovely things, and also launching our 'Paint at Home' range of take away kits. Now you can enjoy painting in the studio and in the comfort of your own home! What's not to love?! Look forward to seeing you soon # # #

We've had numerous people call us chasing their pottery without leaving a name, number or any details of pottery on the voicemail.

The problem with that, is that you'll think we are ignoring you...

* Actual photo of Sarah this morning*

PS as per the last 49570345 posts, please don't chase us. Pottery is delayed due to heatwaves, a broken kiln and having lost half our team due to redundancies and closure. We are doing our best. If you ignore our requests and call us anyway, please do at least tell us who you are, when you painted and what pottery you're expecting. Bonus cheering from the team if you tell them your receipt number! It makes the whole process quicker!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DIXIE DOT

We are now fully booked and there is no availability from now until when we close.
While it's heart breaking to turn people away who want to visit us, we are under a lot of pressure to ensure everything is through the kiln, clay pieces are painted in time and we can start vacating the premises.
We are also now down to 2 staff (and Niamh doing adhoc hours before she goes to Uni.)
Please understand that in order to meet our commitments towards you, and the end of the business, some changes now need to be made, opening times tweaked and priorities made.

If you could hold off on chasing us about pottery coming through the kiln we'd be really grateful, we are going as fast as we can, the kiln takes 24 hours to fire, cool and then we have to empty and match to your order before we can wrap it and send your collection text.

We are running low on stock on the shelves now too so please don't be disappointed if you discover we've sold out of something you wanted to paint. It doesn't make sense to invest more money in filling the shelves.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding and patience.

Pleeeeeeease don't chase us for pottery updates!
All the items in this photo are glazed and waiting to fire, we have a second lot of shelves that are also full.
We are now half a team down and are also firing back to back to get through everything.
Please remember that we have also had back to back heatwaves where it hasn't been safe to fire the kiln so as per all previous communications things are taking longer to process.

We simply can't answer all the pottery chasers or we will never get everything completed and then you really will be cross!

Everything will be completed before we close.
Please don't panic.
Please be patient.
Please be kind.

We are doing our absolute best.

LOCAL RESIDENTS
As our time comes to an end here in Kingsway and we spend the next month wrapping things up in our lovely studio, what would you LOVE to see take it's place?
Lets have a whole list of ideas, it might just encourage someone to take the plunge and start their own venture (or move their current one!)

You know this area best - what's lacking, what would be really well supported by the community, what's a genuis idea?

(Viewings are now taking place - if you're interested in taking over my unit please contact Kurt Wyman in Gloucester).

I'm not gonna beat around the bush on this.
Closing a business is tough all round. The staff are understandably upset and stressed about losing their jobs and don't need extra pressures right now. Rude and demanding customers are not welcome or accepted in this studio.
It's not OUR fault if you've missed the numerous posts and emails about closure deadlines and there is no capacity to 'squeeze you in'.
It's also not our fault that the heat keeps messing with the staff safety and delaying the kiln schedule. We are doing our very best in a challenging situation.

We have been SO busy (thank you everyone !) that there is now limited availability, so if you wish to join us please find your space online ASAP.

🌟 We have one month left until the painting deadline.
🌟 Baby print appointments are now complete sold out.
🌟 Clay deadline is this Sunday - none can be made after this as we don't have drying time available due to vacating premises.
🌟 Stock will continue to be 'while it lasts'. We cannot guarantee what is on the shelves when you come. If you want something specific, pop in NOW while the shelves are full and pay in advance, you can paint it when you come.
🌟 We are winding down operations and I've had to start limiting availability of tables to give the team and kiln a break to start catching up and processing all the pottery.
In July we did 4x more than June. It's an enormous volume.
🌟 Heatwaves have a massive impact on firing times. We can't fire while it's baking hot outside. You'll have to be patient getting your items back.

To everyone who has been kind, understanding, supportive and helpful we appreciate you! Thank you.

To everyone else, wind your neck in, find some empathy,. You can be as 'disappointed' with us as you like; you'll never be quite as disappointed as us losing our jobs and having to close our business.

Creative (part time) jobs?

Guys, I have amazing staff who need a loving home to go to. I'm broken hearted to be letting them all go when Dixie Dot closes but, try as I might, they don't appear to want to do a mass exodus to Scotland with me. I know, right. Madness!

Do you know of any part time jobs in creative businesses that they need to be aware of? If you hear of anything coming up please can you MESSAGE this page with some details so they can all take a look?

I want to do the best I can for them so if you can help me in that I'd really appreciate it!

FOR SALE: 9 oak effect tables and 34 pink tulip chairs (plus a smaller 2 seater table)
Perfect for anyone opening a new studio, or cafe, or any type of space that requires a bulk load.
I'd like these to all go together rather than sell odd sets here or there, so that's what I am looking for first off.

They will be ready for collection 24th-25th September.
Β£550 ono for the lot.

We have a massive sale on the 6th September in the studio 10-1pm. You are able to view them then if you wish. We are also selling our kallax units, numerous Billy bookcase shelving, a reception desk, and a whole range of crafty bits!
