We held a free Kids Manga Workshop at Comics Assemble last weekend with Japanese Manga Artist Chie Kutsuwada

A brilliant 3 hour session that held the children's attention throughout.

If you are looking for someone to lead a workshop like this Chie comes with my highest recommendation.

Unfortunately, Doug Braithwaite has had to cancel his appearance at Comics Assemble on Saturday due to an personal emergency.

The Conan panel will still go ahead with Jim and Jesus.

So I know I said there would be no more guest announcements, but today I'm very happy to announce that we will now be joined by Eagle Award Winning comic artist David Hitchcock on this Saturday 15th August at Comics Assemble 2026

David began working on comics in the late 80’s.
His first self produced comic was Spirit of the Highwayman, followed by Whitechapel Freak, Springheeled Jack etc.
Every title had a gothic feel for which he became known for. He won a much coveted Eagle Award in 2006 for Springheeled Jack, which has enjoyed a variety of printings as well as a French language edition.

Recent years he has illustrated numerous books including The Signalman, Frankenstein Texas (by Dan Whitehead), Hedrek by Laurence Alison published by Scratch Comics Publications, Whitechapel Cordon by Chris Denton and many more short stories for various publishers. John Carpenter’s Tales for a HalloweeNight has become a regular annual gig with writer Alec Worley.

His most recent scribbles adorn John A. Short's THE SISTER THREE a 17th century witch hunting tale currently on Kickstarter. He’s also produced work for 2000 AD and covers for Dark Horse Comics

David will be sketching and signing all day.

When I first conceived the Idea of Comics Assemble 2026 it didn't have an events schedule. I was looking to keep it simple and keep the budget low.

But thanks to our Sponsors CPC and their devotion to "Giving Back" and to supporting education and well being for school children we now have a schedule that includes a Free Manga Workshop for kids with our guest manga artist Chie Kutsuwada

I am therefore delighted to share with you out full events schedule, which you can also access on our website.

11.00 - 14.00- Making Manga with Chie Kutsuwada.

This free workshop with Japanese Manga artist Chie Kutsuwada is aimed at children between the ages of 8 to 13 of all skill levels. Art materials are provided. Learn about the basics of creating manga characters from a professional manga artist.

14.14 - 15.15 Creating On Conan - Panel hosted by Olly MacNamee

Join some of the current creators behind the Titan Comics hit series of CONAN writer Jim Zub , and artists Doug Braithwaite and Jesus Merino as they discuss the series and their creative process in detail. Sure to be a fascinating panel.

15.30 - 16.30 Guest Interview: Sabine Rich

Cover artist and colourist Sabine Rich has a conversation with host Olly MacNamee about her work for publishers across the globe and how she creates memorable and iconic cover art for some of the most popular characters in comics.

All of these events are absolutely free and included in your super bargain £10 entry price (and kids go free).
