This time next week we will be opening the doors to our new exhibition, Ancient Yesterdays ll, in our main galleries.
This exhibition will showcase a collection of spectacular reduction linocuts by Elizabeth Gray, also known as Ben Venuto, from her 15 year series ‘Ancient Yesterdays’. Some unsigned and untitled, and others not previously displayed, the display will bring together some of the highlights from that series as well as newly discovered works.
In the words of Elizabeth Gray herself...

'Each print, which contain either animals or birds, or both, has been a fresh journey into the past, and the philosophy of each different culture has been revealed through its art. The exchange of artistic ideas has been an enrichment of the human soul since time immemorial, and I, for one, am grateful for that enrichment. I hope you will share something of that experience as you look at these treasures made by artists whose lives are obscured by the mists of time but whose art lives on in the things they created’.
Ancient Yesterdays II will be on display 23rd June - 19th July Tuesday - Sunday 10am-5pm.

This week, 15th - 21st June, we are celebrating Refugee Week, the world's largest arts and cultural festival celebrating the creativity, contributions and resilience of refugees.
For refugees around the world, courage is often a daily necessity. It is the courage to face unknown journeys, learn new languages, navigate unfamiliar systems, or simply to wake up each morning and step into an unknown world. Refugee week 2026 calls us to come together and share the courage to welcome, to stand for what we believe in, and celebrate culture and community, to be joyful, imagine new possibilities, dream, heal, and connect.
During Refugee Week we will be displaying "We Fly At Night" by Derek Robertson in our gallery. This piece was 'inspired by a conversation with a man in Edinburgh who had fled Aleppo. One night he grabbed a rucksack and ran, leaving his parents and brother, and his home, forever. Virtually nothing of the city remains'.
This comes from Derek’s series ‘Migrations’ (www.creativepastures.com/migrations) which ties together human rights issues of refugee crises and climate change through the imagery of migratory birds and their role as environmental indicators.

Happy World Ocean Day!!
One Ocean, One Climate, One Future — Together.
By working together, we can restore what has been lost, protect what remains, and ensure that future generations inherit a thriving ocean and a stable climate. Today, 8th June, and throughout the year, we consider the ways we can help to protect our blue planet, and build a future where people, the ocean and the more-than-human world can thrive together.
Nature in Art are continuously working to reduce our waste and our impact on the environment as much as possible. We reduce, reuse or recycle all single use soft plastics from our cafe and shop, and where possible, avoid the use of plastic and harmful materials on site. And of course, the natural world, and the art inspired by it, is at the very heart of our museum and gallery.
