*Yesterday was so much fun* Festival felt like such a coming together of community in a real creative expression of the 'Beltane' theme.

From all the artists at Arkane Collective we want to thank everyone who took the time to come and see the exhibition and take part in our drop in leaf workshop.

We also want to thank
For giving us a platform to showcase our work, some of us for the first time, which feels really exciting.

Expect big things from Arkane Collective in the coming months and hopefully we will be back next year with another exhibition.

Thanks you artists:

Hardman

A special thank you to our friends
For loaning us the exhibition boards x

Thanks Glossop xx

*Artist Announcement* we are very excited to introduce one of the talented local artists included in our exhibition for Festival on May 9th.

We are honoured and excited for Saima to be a part of our showcase of local artists.

You can find the Arkane Collective Exhibition upstairs on May 9th between 11-5pm.

Saima Rasheed is a UK based artist, born in Lahore and now living in the North of England. Trained in South Asian miniature painting at the National College of Arts, her work has developed into a contemporary painting practice rooted in careful observation, layering and attention to detail.

Her early work explored the lives and experiences of women, often through personal and reflective imagery. These themes continue to echo in her practice, with a focus on presence, memory and the quiet strength found in everyday life.
Since moving to the UK, her work has gradually expanded to reflect on ideas of place, belonging and lived experience across cultures. Drawing on both South Asian and British influences, her paintings bring together personal memory and wider histories in a subtle and thoughtful way.
Her process is slow and meditative. Through repeated mark making and delicate layering, she builds surfaces that hold a sense of time and care. Elements such as pattern and gold are used not just for their beauty, but to suggest ideas of value, history and tradition.
Overall, her work moves between the personal and the shared, offering a space to reflect on identity, memory and connection.
In 2018, she was shortlisted for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize. In 2016, she was invited to exhibit at the Colombo Biennale, Sri Lanka, and she has been nominated for the Jameel Art Prize. In 2004, she undertook an artist residency at the École d’Art in Aix en Provence, France. She has also received support from Arts Council England for exhibitions and workshops, including at The Bhavan Centre.

Lucy uses art as a space for joy and expression — exploring environments, connection, and voice through colour, theme, and abstraction. Her practice is grounded in what art can open up in people, using creativity as a tool for resilience.

We are honoured and excited for Helen Newman to be a part of our showcase of local artists.

You can find the Arkane Collective Exhibition upstairs on May 9th between 11-5pm.

Helen (After 3 Studio) is a creative and designer who loves materials, objects, and interiors. Her work reflects the joy of making, the tactile nature of making with materials, and inspired by daydreaming. Helen has been working with a ceramics informed practice, but also loves to learn about new materials. Helen loves to create things in repetition, often with meticulous detail and time consuming details, getting lost within worlds she is creating for her dream pieces, set, exhibition, or stage design.

With a 10 year + career in creative industry, Helen works with galleries as an Artist Practitioner creating and leading 3D based workshops for schools and social groups, along with being an Associate Artist for the British Ceramics Biennial.

Helen is making her way into set, stage, and immersive environment design, along with finding the joy in photography and styling over at . Apart from that you can find her snowboarding doing all her creative thinking!

We are honoured and excited for Ben to be a part of our showcase of local artists.

You can find the Arkane Collective Exhibition upstairs on May 9th between 11-5pm.

Ben Jac is a designer and visual artist from Glossop who blends analogue creation with digital processes to produce vibrant, emotive and abstract works. Often inspired by nature, he embraces imperfection, seeking moments of order and balance within the chaos of free expression.

Beginning with limitless experimentation, he allows small discoveries to guide the process, following instinct as each piece gradually reveals itself. Without preconception or a fixed outcome, the final work is something that could never have been planned or fully articulated, formed instead through the act of making itself.

Ben has worked with notable names across the music industry, from record labels such as Eglo Records and Critical Music, to DJs including David Rodigan and Goldie. Using poster creation as an artistic outlet, he has extended his work beyond traditional spaces, with venue walls and lampposts becoming his gallery.
