James got serious about photography in 1988, becoming a full time professional in 1992 after achieving success in local PIATT photo contests. He left T&T in 1997 to further his career aboard cru

ise ships where he met his first mentor Monte Zucker. Monte guided James during that time as he rose in rank while working in all areas of the Photo Department. Returning to T&T in 2010 after photographing over two million people, he immediately sought to give back by collaborating with Nexus Studios where he conducted his mentoring sessions as an homage to his mentor. After that collaboration ended he went on to join the committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Photographic Society. He was inducted as a director/founding member and the first Tini on the team serving for five years. He was instrumental in the success of the first three National Photo Contests along with the ever popular monthly meetings. of the Art Society of T&T with a mandate to bridge the gap between artists and photographers, as he works to ensure that photography gets the recognition it deserves as visual art.

“My interests run the gamut of genres with experiences which facilitated my smooth transition from film to digital, from ship board high pressure production to full service corporate assignments. With all the experience and knowledge I have amassed, I am still learning and often find myself surprised by what is possible.”

Resonance in a Floating World: The Floating Archive.
In a world that refuses to stand still, resonance is what remains. These photographs are not preserved moments, they are evolving in resonance, still vibrating, still floating.
Drawn from works created over recent years, this exhibition re-sequences my collection not by date, but by vibration. Images once separated by theme or time now sit in quiet dialogue, revealing continuities beneath change.
Structure meets impermanence. Geometry meets memory. Light performs its subtle work across architecture, landscape, and human presence.
The floating world moves quickly. These works ask us to pause, to notice what lingers after the glance, after the spectacle, after the moment.
