Working on a deeply etched copper plate and two inks of very different viscosity, one thick and sticky, the other mixed to a dripping consistency ( having added linseed oil) created this coloured print, in one pull, through my small etching press.

Experimenting with colour and inking up on this etched plate.

Port Mellon house in soft tones - aquatint etching. Such a fascinating process, coating the zinc plate in resin dust, bonding with heat. Then stopping out areas for etching (in nitric acid ) for between 10 seconds and 5 minutes to create tonal shapes across the plate. Inking up and wiping back to reveal the image.

So pleased to be part of ‘The LPW Members Show 2025’. The preview is tonight 31st October 6pm to 9pm. The exhibition is on until 19th December. The LPW Gallery is open Wednesday- Saturday 10am - 5pm.
