The adventure begins…

In the coming weeks we will be launching the first beta version of OURTOR and we are now looking for early explorers, storytellers, travellers, treasure hunters and curious souls to help test the platform.

So what is OURTOR?

Imagine if Google Maps, Pokémon GO and TikTok came together in an AI powered world of travel and discovery.

OURTOR is a brand new ExploreTech platform built around the magic of exploration, hidden places, stories, events and treasure.

At the heart of the app is an interactive discovery map where users can explore what’s around them locally or anywhere in the world. But unlike traditional travel apps, OURTOR learns your personal Travel DNA, understanding the kinds of places, stories and experiences you love most.

You can discover hidden gems, unlock digital relics, create travel stories, track your adventures, follow other explorers and become part of a growing global community of OURTORians.

This is just the beginning.

We have been building this vision with love, passion and belief in a more magical, story driven future of travel and now we are finally ready to invite people in.

The beta launch will initially be available through TestFlight on iPhone.

We are looking for the right people to help shape the future of OURTOR, so potential beta testers will be asked to fill out a short application form to see if they are a good fit for this early stage of the journey.

If you would like to apply, please send us your email address via DM and we will send you the beta tester form.

The treasure is calling.

Today I finally share the pitch video for OURTOR.

This isn’t just another travel app. It comes from over 25 years of guiding people through places like Glastonbury, standing with thousands of travellers searching for something deeper than ticking boxes off a map.

I realised people are not only looking for destinations. They are looking for treasure.
Hidden places.
Hidden stories.
Hidden meaning.
A feeling of adventure again.

That is why we created OURTOR.

Imagine if Google Maps, Pokémon GO and TikTok came together in an AI world focused entirely on the magic of travel and discovery.

OURTOR learns your Travel DNA and helps guide you towards experiences, stories, events and hidden gems that truly resonate with you. We are building what we believe is the beginning of a whole new industry… ExploreTech.

This has been a huge journey already and we are still at the beginning. Massive love and gratitude to everyone supporting the vision, believing in the dream, sharing ideas, testing concepts and helping us bring this to life.

The world needs more wonder.
More adventure.
More connection to place, story and each other.

This is OURTOR.
The treasure hunt begins.

Part of my research for Ourtor is watching a lot of dragons then. I’ve been thinking what I would say if I was on Dragons’ Den this is what I’ve come up with. What do you think?

“Hello Dragons. My name is Tor Webster, co-founder of OURTOR.

I’ve been a tour guide in Glastonbury, the home of myths and legends, for over 20 years. And through that, I saw something missing in travel.

People don’t just want to visit places anymore.
They want to feel them. They want meaning. They want something deeper than just ticking off landmarks.

So together with my godson Gabriel, who’s a highly skilled developer, we built OURTOR.

OURTOR is what we believe is a new category of travel called ExploreTech.

In simple terms, it’s where Google Maps meets Pokémon GO, but instead of catching creatures, you’re uncovering real-world stories, places, and experiences.

It’s a platform where travellers can plan their journey, from flights and hotels to tours and experiences, but layered on top is something entirely new.

A story-driven treasure hunt.

Users follow trails, uncover hidden artefacts, and are guided to places they would never normally find, creating a much deeper and more meaningful experience of the world around them.

At the same time, we help destinations and businesses become part of that journey, bringing them into the story rather than just advertising to travellers.

We’re launching our first version now, starting with real-world treasure hunts and a growing community around exploration.

And we’re here today asking for £100,000 in exchange for 10% of the business.

To help us scale a new way of exploring the world.”**

The State of Travel, and Bringing the Soul Back Into It

There is something not quite right about the state of tourism today.

Too much of it is being shaped by algorithms, influencers, and what looks good on a screen rather than what actually feeds the soul. People are being guided, often unknowingly, down very narrow paths. The same destinations. The same experiences. The same curated version of “meaning.”

It’s not that people don’t want depth. Quite the opposite.

Most people are searching for something real. Something that connects them to place, to people, to story, and ultimately to themselves. But instead of being encouraged into that kind of journey, they are often funnelled into expensive retreats or packaged “spiritual” experiences in places like Bali or Costa Rica. Environments that, in many cases, have been reshaped to meet Western expectations rather than honour their original roots.

There’s a deeper issue here.

Ancient practices that were once sacred, passed carefully from teacher to student, from family to family, are now being offered widely, often without the grounding, lineage, or cultural understanding that gave them meaning in the first place. What was once deeply respected is now, at times, diluted or misunderstood.

And yet, the desire behind it all is genuine.

People want to explore. They want to feel. They want to understand the myths, the legends, the unseen layers of the world. That hasn’t gone anywhere.

There was a time, not so long ago, when travel looked very different.

People would get on a train with very little plan. They would move through landscapes slowly. They would meet locals, sit in kitchens, hear stories firsthand, and learn from the ground up. Not through a filter, but through experience. There was humility in it. There was curiosity. There was a sense of adventure that didn’t need to be documented to be real.

That spirit still exists. It’s just been buried under noise.

What we need now is not more destinations, more luxury, or more “experiences.” We need a return to meaningful travel. Travel that is rooted in place. Travel that honours the people and stories of the land. Travel that invites discovery rather than prescribing it.

This is where I believe the future of travel is heading.

And this is exactly what we are building with OURTOR.

OURTOR is about bringing that spirit back. Not by telling people where to go, but by helping them discover for themselves. By reconnecting them to story, to myth, to landscape, and to those quiet, unexpected moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.

It’s about turning travel back into an adventure again.

Not a checklist. Not a performance. Not something curated for approval.

Something lived.

Because at its core, travel was never meant to be consumed.

It was meant to transform you.

The State of Tourism: Have We Lost the Soul of Travel?

There’s something not quite right about the way tourism has become.

Across the world, we’re seeing millions, sometimes billions, poured into vast resort developments in places that were once quietly beautiful. These are landscapes that travellers, pilgrims, and wanderers have visited for generations with very little footprint. Places where the experience was the place itself, not something built on top of it.

Now those same places are being reshaped to serve a very different kind of traveller.

The focus has shifted heavily toward high-end tourism. Luxury resorts, gated experiences, curated perfection. But here’s the truth that often gets ignored: many of these developments sit half-empty, while the natural and cultural infrastructure around them struggles to cope. Water systems, local communities, ecosystems, all stretched to accommodate something that was never designed with them in mind.

It raises a simple question. Who is this really for?

Because the people who are truly drawn to these places, the explorers, the pilgrims, the culturally curious, they’re not looking for another five-star resort. They’re looking for something real. They want to sit with locals, hear stories, understand the land, feel the rhythm of a place.

That’s where platforms like Airbnb originally offered something powerful. A way to stay with locals, to connect more directly. But even that has started to drift. In many areas, it’s been taken over by high-end villas and investment properties, pushing prices up and moving further away from the original spirit of shared, grounded travel.

What we’re left with is a growing gap.

On one side, an industry pouring resources into large-scale, high-cost experiences that often lack soul and strain the very places they rely on. On the other, a quiet but powerful movement of travellers who want depth, connection, and authenticity.

We don’t need more resorts.

We need a rebalancing.

We need infrastructure that supports local people, not displaces them. Experiences that celebrate what’s already there, rather than replacing it. Travel that is accessible, respectful, and rooted in story.

Because the truth is, the world doesn’t need to be rebuilt for tourism. It needs to be revealed.

This is something we’re actively working on with OURTOR. The idea is simple. Instead of building over places, we guide people into them. Through story, myth, and local knowledge. Through experiences that encourage exploration rather than consumption.

Travel should feel like discovery again.

Not ownership. Not control. Not extraction.

The future of tourism isn’t about building bigger.

It’s about going deeper.

And if we get that right, we don’t just protect these places.

We honour them.
