“Acting Coach Scotland as great as ever.”

That opening line alone made us smile — but it gets even better:

“Witty, hilarious, simply brilliant – and, of course, 100% historically accurate.”

We’ll allow the Fact Checker to deal with that last claim. 😂

Thank you both for coming along, and for such a brilliant review.

We love you too, Julia! ❤️🏴‍☠️

“Delightful show from ACS’s talented cast.”

That opening alone makes us very happy — because as an acting school, seeing audiences specifically recognise the quality of our actors is exactly what we want.

Julia also described Sisters of the Seas as “witty, cheeky and creatively staged” and praised the way the show explores Anne Bonny and Mary Read without sanding off the darker, more brutal parts of their story.

Her final verdict sums up what we were trying to achieve beautifully:

“History with a twist — and a thoughtful take on fact and fiction.”

Thank you, Julia. ❤️

We love you too, James! ❤️🏴‍☠️

And we particularly enjoyed your opening line:

“ACS always put on a good show and this one is no exception.”

That’s a lovely thing to hear from someone who’s clearly seen our work before.

James also summed up Sisters of the Seas rather brilliantly:

“Songs, fights, cross-dressing, plenty of quick changes and lots of laughs…”

He praised the cast’s slick timing, their energy on stage, and even picked up on the show’s more playful questions about truth, storytelling and theatre.

And finally, a useful warning:

“Don’t sit in the front row if you’re afraid of cutlasses!” ⚔️😂

We love you too, SW! ❤️🏴‍☠️

“Action packed with seamless scene changes.”

SW also praised the staging and choreography — and, importantly, noticed something we’ve heard a lot during this run:

“The actors looked like they were enjoying their time on stage :)”

They absolutely are. And that energy is one of the things we’re most proud of about this company.

But SW saved the best review line for last:

“Bloody love Pirates!” 😂🏴‍☠️

Frankly, so do we.

We love you too, Simon! ❤️🏴‍☠️

“Very good acting and the story was funny, with actors playing so many characters.”

That’s exactly the kind of feedback we love to hear.

At Acting Coach Scotland, the whole point is to train versatile, confident actors — so seeing audiences notice the quality of the acting, and just how many different characters our cast take on, makes us incredibly proud.

Simon also said the story “romped along” and that Sisters of the Seas is “highly recommended.”

Thank you, Simon. ❤️

We love you too, Lynne! ❤️🏴‍☠️

“An excellent show, tightly choreographed…”

Lynne also praised the ensemble cast of nine, the multiple characters, the comedy, and the clever use of hand-held lights.

And yes… she did also note that the show is “quite sweary”. 😂

We’ll take that as part of the historical authenticity.

Thank you, Lynne — we’re delighted you enjoyed it.

“Captivating show from the outset!”

That’s a lovely line to read — and we’re especially pleased that Julie also praised our “talented bunch of actors” and said the whole audience stayed engaged throughout.

She also gave a special nod to the quirky outbursts from our “alleged” fact checker, which feels very on brand. 😂

And the final verdict?

“Bravo, thoroughly enjoyed the performance!” 👏🎭

“A surprising discovery full of rollicking good fun!”

Claire also described Sisters of the Seas as “a well crafted play with a mix of fact and comedy that is fast paced and entertaining” — and gave special praise to the performances.

Her verdict?

“Highly recommended for a fun 50 minutes in your festival programme.”

Thank you, Claire. ❤️

We love you too, Brian! ❤️🏴‍☠️

“I have seen so many shows over this past week and I can honestly say this is amongst the best.”

Now THAT is a Fringe review we’ll happily take. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brian called Sisters of the Seas a “hidden gem”, said it was “hilarious from start to end”, and praised the cast, staging and movement.

And perhaps our favourite line of all:

“I have not laughed that much in years.”

Thank you, Brian. That means a huge amount to the cast and everyone involved in the show. ❤️
