Interesting idea... In a bid to drive action by the private sector to combat climate change, the Science Based Targets Initiative aims to support companies to set and maintain emissions targets according to current climate science recommendations.
The initiative, which is a partnership between the UN Global Compact, the World Wide Fund for Nature, the World Resources Institute and the CDP, then have these targets assessed and validated by a team of independent experts.

Lucy from Weigh To Go in Edinburgh reads the latest IPCC Report on Climate Change on behalf of 1.5 Degrees Live to passers by on Leith Walk at 18:18 on Tuesday 2nd November.
The latest IPCC Report produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is the findings of many scientists on the state of climate change and recommendations as to what can be done about it. The banner reading Code Red refers to UN Secretary General Antonio Guteress’ recent comment that the report was ‘Code Red for humanity’
1.5 degrees Live has been organising public readings of the IPCC Report all over the U.K. and in Australia to highlight its findings to people who may not have the opportunity to read it themselves. These readings which involve a number of readers reading a few pages each have included participation by MP’s, environmental scientists, environmental activists, celebrities and members of the public. 1.5 degrees Live can be followed at @1.5degreeslive
In a bid to cut down on plastic waste and provide a more sustainable shopping experience Weigh to Go is a shop on Leith Walk which provides a wide variety of products including dried goods, grains, condiments, spices, washing liquids, household cleaning fluids and milk amongst many other products in an unpackaged form so that customers can bring their own containers, bags and bottles to fill. They can be followed at

After ‘airport’ security to get into the COP26 green zone this is as close as the public are getting to the action across the river so I hope the people we voted for are all across there getting on well and agreeing how we can dig ourselves out of the hole we’re in. The biscuit came from the Green Zone cafe which did not advertise its prices. If it had I wouldn’t have shelled out £2.50 for a small empire biscuit. At this price I consider it a family heirloom and worthy of a portrait across from the Armadillo.

Pilgrims arriving in Glasgow today from all over the world to be part of COP26 marched to George Square in the centre of the city for a rally. Many pilgrims representing many groups attended including Barbara Keal from The Coat of Hopes pilgrimage seen here leading the gathered crowd in song. Described as a community created work of performance craft the Coat of Hopes pilgrimage set of from the sea in Newhaven in the south of the U.K. 2 months ago and walked the 500 miles to Glasgow collecting pieces of fabric on the way which were sewn into a coat to be worn by both people making the pilgrimage and people they met. Each piece of fabric represented the donors griefs, remembrances and hopes to be brought to the meeting of the worlds leaders. See https://www.coatofhopes.uk for more info.

The UN Environment Programs new Emissions Gap report says that global temperature rise will not be kept under 1.5C this century by countries pledging that it would be but instead could be as high as 2.7 degrees.
This has been described as ‘Another thundering wake-up call’ by UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres who recently brought us ‘Code Red for Planet Earth’ earlier this year when describing another pessimistic report and blamed the failure of political leaders For these projections.
There is hope, however , that if long term net-zero goals are met, temperatures rise will not be as high as this report suggests they could be.
