Introducing our conductor and musical director Callum Morton Hüseyin! 🎶 We asked Callum about his musical experiences and ambitions for CCO…

What is your first musical memory?

“I don’t know if it’s my absolute first, but watching Disney’s 1945 Fantasia with my grandparents was something I did almost every time I visited them from the age of 3 onwards.”

What inspired you to start CCO?

“There are so many wonderful early-career professional players in Edinburgh and Glasgow and I thought it would be brilliant to work with them. I also think there is a real gap in the market for an orchestra that is committed to mixed programming that brings audiences together rather than dividing them up. I was also a bit fed up with travelling to London so much!”

What are your ambitions for CCO?

“I want us to become a full-time, full-size orchestra. Realistically, I think that’s going to take years and a lot of support but we’re already laying great groundwork for it.”

We know that times are tough right now- whether you’re a student trying to stretch that maintenance loan as far as possible, a family trying to keep the kids in extracurriculars as well as keeping up with their incessant growth, a pensioner on a limited income and at the mercy of inflation, an underpaid worker in the gig economy, disabled and at the mercy of the kafkaesque cruelty of the DWP or indeed always short of cash at the end of the month for any other reason. We have always had an informal pay what you can ticket option for friends and family, but we realised we should extend it to everyone because whoever you are and whatever your budget, we want to play for you. We are happy to announce that we have dates for the 2025 Series!

- 15th February: Romantic Fantasies: Wagner Siegfried Idyll and Music from Final Fantasy VII

- 7th June: Legends: The Legend of Zelda Suite, Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty Suite, and Zemlinksy 4 Fantasien.

- 25th October: Winterreise x Ghibli, Schubert's Song Cycle with Aleksi Koponen and Music from Howl's Moving Castle and Kiki's Delivery Service. (rescheduled from Saturday 2nd November 2024)

We are very sorry to announce that Saturday's Concert, (2nd November) of Winterreise and Schubert's 5th Symphony has had to be delayed until 2025. The concert will be in February and we hope to make an announcement of the revised date very shortly.

However, we are pleased to announce that the concerts for 2025 will be:

February: Schubert Winterreise. Repackaged with Symphonic Variation "Merry-Go-Round" from Howl's Moving Castle & the Suite from Kiki's Delivery Service

June: Wagner: Siegried Idyll, Suite from Final Fantasy VII

October: Zemlinksy: 4 Fantasien, Tchaikovsky: Suite from Sleeping Beauty, Legend of Zelda Suite.
