Counting down the hours to Fire Stories making it's debut tonight & tomorrow at The Glenburn Centre with a special performance that has been months in the making🔥

The multimedia project led by artist Keira McLean / RDW Glass has been co-designed and produced with residents of Easterhouse in collaboration with filmmaker Caireen Stuart_ and animator Akviledir Dirmauskaite, presented in collaboration with Glasgow International 2026, Red Flag Players and Platform.

🔥 "The campfire, the hearth, the brazier of a picket, “round the fire” is where we come together, to sit, to share stories, to break bread.

"A round the fire it’s easy to imagine a world in which we live in solidarity. We’re living through another period of political austerity, social-economic deprivation, rampant isolation, and loneliness; we feel disconnected and powerless.

"We need to remember our history, our struggles, our victories, our defeats. How can this knowledge serve as a beacon of hope and action today? We are here and we want to live!" 🔥

One of the Made in Easterhouse 20:26 activities this year, programmed to mark Platform's 20th birthday, was the creation of the Easterhouse Almanac by artist Rebecca Fraser - a new book packed full of useful tips and ideas.

We caught up with Rebecca on the creation of the Easterhouse Almanac, the thinking behind it and how it was created.

"Myself and the designer who designed the book, were keen that the book felt like an heirloom and something that would be passed among a family whether it was to find a pancake recipe or remember how to dry flowers. There’s also blank pages at the back where families can add their own seasonal ‘life hacks’ and it’s our hope that each book grows with its household, gathering notes of birthdays and anniversaries".

Family friendly summer festivals this July....

📆Alexandra Park Festival Day on Sat 11 July and an extra special The Bridge Birthday Party on Saturday 18 July - help us celebrate our 20th birthday year! 🎂

Full of fun filled family activities both festivals are on between 12 - 4pm and entry is free.

The will be a roller disco at The Bridge, live wrestling with Iron Girders at Alexandra Park as well as stalls, rides, inflatables, face painting, balloon modelling, activities and lots more!
