Applications are now open for wind, brass & percussion musicians to join the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland's Intermediate (Grade 3-5) & Senior (Grade 6+) Ensembles.

Join us 11-17 July at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for a week of music-making, learning, and performance with expert tutors. Sharpen your ensemble skills, explore exciting repertoire, and perform alongside talented peers from across the UK and around the world.

Our last course welcomed 100+ young musicians from across the UK, Australia, China, France, Singapore, Spain, UAE and the USA - an amazing chance to make friends, share music, and grow as a musician!

🙌🏻🎵💫 What an incredible week it’s been across our National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland (NYWES) Summer courses!

This year, 105 outstanding young wind, brass, and percussion players (aged 9-18) from across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Australia came together for an unforgettable musical experience. From inspiring rehearsals of eclectic repertoire to developing ensemble skills, forging new friendships, and creating lifelong memories, NYWES 2025 has been a vibrant celebration of youth music-making at its very best.

We’re excited to share the culmination of the hard work, energy, and musical growth in a special performance for friends and family on Friday at 16:00, featuring both the Intermediate and Senior NYWES ensembles.

Thank you to all participants, the amazing NYWES and RCS staff teams, and to our three fabulous conductors! We can’t wait to do it all again next year—join us in 2026!

The NYWES Senior Ensemble have been treated to working with conductors Kevin Price and Stefanie Smith for the past seven days. Nearly 60 young musicians, from as far afield as Brisbane, Australia have joined forces on stage during this summer's course, and the results are incredible!

Every section of the ensemble has worked so hard over the past week, and they are sounding fantastic! The concert will feature works by Brian Balmages - Composer / Conductor, Julie Giroux, Carol Brittin Chambers, Omar Thomas, Erika Svanoe, Randall D. Standridge, Composer/Marching Arts Designer, Eric Whitacre, Michael Giacchino, Percy Grainger and many more! A huge thanks to the fabulous NYWES Tutor Team, our conductors and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for hosting.

The NYWES Intermediate Ensemble being put through their paces by conductor, Rebecca Whitener ahead of their concert in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at 4pm tomorrow! They've had a brilliant week exploring a variety of new repertoire, skills and techniques. They've risen to every challenge working with the brilliant NYWES Tutor team and it's been lovely to see new friendships created.🎵🙏
