It’s about time we introduced ourselves!

We’re the faces behind Dennistoun Mural Project - a local group working to bring more art to the streets of Dennistoun whilst celebrating our fantastic local community.

We're looking for volunteers to join our team! Could it be you? 🤩

We've got big ambitions for the project and are looking for more people to help us bring these dreams to reality.

We're ideally looking for volunteers who can fulfil the following roles:

🎨 Project Secretary
🎨 Social Media Content Creator / Manager
🎨 Community Engagement Lead

Ideally you will be local to the Dennistoun area too!

If you're interested and want to know more about any of the roles listed, or you want to help but don't feel any of these fit then please still get in touch! We'd love to discuss how we can work together.

If you go down to Hillfoot Street today, you're in for a big surprise... 🤩

The first mural is complete, in collaboration with the amazing studiopylon and Claire Barclay Draws 🎨🖌️

Cat at Studio Pylon provided her wall and funding, with the request for a theme of 'JOY'! We gathered feedback from the local community via surveys, and worked with kids from PEEK - Possibilities for Each and Every Kid to find out what brings you joy, and Claire delivered it in the most joyous artwork possible!

We're so delighted with the finished wall, and can't wait to hear what you think!

What a colourful week I've had creating a mural outside 's gorgeous shop as part of the ! 🖌️🌈💖 The theme we went for was 'JOY' and so I decided to put a 'pure dead Scottish' twist on that celebrating some of our most joyous Scottish sayings and dialect! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥳 I've had so many lovely encouraging conversations with the locals over the past few days working on this, go check it out on Hillfoot Street Dennistoun! 🌈

A huge thank you to everyone who filled in our community engagement survey earlier this year 💙

We've had a lot of feedback to go through but are so pleased that the majority of feedback was super positive, and we loved hearing how much you all support what we're doing!

We are still new and figuring lots of things out, so it's been very helpful to understand what people want to see and what areas we still need to work on.

For now, we have outlined the key themes from the feedback in the post, and we'll address each of these separately in future posts.

Have your say! Let's create a wall of JOY in Dennistoun 💙

We need your thoughts! Please read on! Get involved!

The JOY wall will soon be getting a mural, in conjunction with . Very exciting. The theme will still be JOY, that's why we get up in the morning, but we want to know what brings you the most JOY and happiness. Even if it's weird we want to know, if it's flowers and puppies that's good too. These will be used as inspiration for (local creative) to work with.

Joy (noun): a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

We’re jumping with joy to announce we have our first mural location! 🤸🏼🤩🎨

Working with , we have big plans to bring lots more joy to this wall on Hillfoot St. What’s more, we’re so excited to have on hand to make it happen.

Next week, we’ll be popping over to see our friends at .scot to get some inspiration for the mural from their youth visual arts group.

In the meantime, we want to hear from you: what brings you joy? ✨

We’ll be sharing all your ideas and input with Claire, so keep your eyes peeled… your very own piece of joy might just make the mural 👀

Hey Dennistoun! We want to hear from you!

Our mission as a project is to bring more colour and art to the streets of Dennistoun. We'd love to do this by creating a mural trail around the community that encourages people to visit and explore the area more📍

It's important to us that we understand what the community wants and include them in the creation of these murals as much as possible, and we've launched a survey so you can have your say!
