Following the success of our first scratch night Melting, and after a wee bit of time to plan for the future, Fey Theatre is wanting to go further.

We are sending out a call-out for a full-length play.

As always, we thrive to open our doors to all Scotland-based theatre makers; we want to be inspired by you and your talent.

There are no real boundaries to this callout. We are aiming to create a finished piece made to last a little under 1h or so, but whether this comes to us in the form of a fully completed script or the synopsis for a devised show is up to you. The theme can be one that inspires you, one that you wish to work on, to put it frankly; whatever makes your creative juices flow!

We do not have a set deadline for sending in these pieces, as we understand it may take some time. Still, we truly are looking to expand further and further and putting on a short play would be an exciting step.

Once the piece is selected, Fey Theatre will work closely with the writer in order to build a creative team, cast the play, and start bringing all the magical words to life. If you know of anyone who writes, or who can create a story just by looking at their dog yawn, spread the word! If you happen to be this someone, get in touch!

We are truly looking forward to hearing back from all of the talent Scotland has to offer.

Pass on all questions and pieces to [email protected]

We can finally reveal the fab photos folks!
Many thanks to Svetlana Panova for masterly handling the camera.

Once again, thank you to all the performers for displaying their heart and talent on stage as well as the people who came to see the event and filled the venue with electricity. Also, thank you to The Old Hairdresser’s for great support and collaboration.

We can’t wait to see you all soon for future endeavors!

WHO is Fey Theatre?

What a wonderful question you pose there. The time has come for you to learn a little bit more about us.
We decided we needed more theatre in our lives and took things in our own hands in forming Fey Theatre.

Fredrika is the writer behind The Summer Pasture, the opening scene of the evening.
Fredrika and Thaïs will both be performing in The Summer Pasture and Year/Year.

Fredrika is a Stockholm native studying English with Creative writing at the University of Aberdeen. She has a background in theatre and has always been down to boogie with both acting and writing. For the last years she has been involved in the poetry and open-mic scene of the Deen, winning the 2017 poetry slam competition of the Aberdeen uni English Literature Society. She has written and performed a one woman show called Clever Clumsy Coffin, as well as co-written and performed The Natural Woman – or Why It’s Ugly to Have Long Inner L***a. She was also a part of the first Scottish Youth Theatre National Ensemble in 2017, participating in their show Dye in the Goldfish Bowl.

Thaïs is a psychology graduate from the University of Glasgow who has always been fascinated with storytelling. Originally from France, she spent two years working with La Compagnie Les Yeux D’encre under the direction of Mathilde Kott. Once in Glasgow, she quickly joined the Scottish Youth Theatre under the direction of Mary McCluskey; both as a performer in their yearly productions and as a member of their Family Story Time company. Her roles included Jokasta in Liz Lochhead’s Thebans and Prospero in The Tempest. In 2017, she became a member of their first National Ensemble, and took part in Tell Us Who We Are the following year, the first youth company collaboration of its kind, commissioned as part of the cultural program of the 2018 European Championships.

Fey Theatre is a newly created company with the aim of bringing together Scottish talent.

We are two Scotland-based theatre makers who took part in the Scottish Youth Theatre’s first National Ensemble. We are keen to work with other creatives to form a network of people with whom to collaborate and grow as writers and performers.

For our first event, we have decided to put on an evening of performance, regrouping theatre and poetry. We are thriving to showcase a varied group of creators throughout “Melting”, set in The Old Hairdresser’s on Wednesday 27th February.

Further deets about the evening shall be coming soon; we are looking forward to having you join us on this journey.
