Well done to Christine - Our Satellite 9 Chair has just been announced as Science Guest at Novacon 55!

Novacon are really pleased to announce that Dr Christine Davidson Davidson BSc CChem FRSC FHEA has agreed to be our Science Guest at this year’s Novacon in November. As well as being a regular Novacon attendee, she is also an internationally-recognised scientist. We are sure she will add interest and expertise to the Novacon Programme and are looking forward to welcoming her.
In her professional life, she is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Analytical Geochemistry and Associate Dean Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of Science at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. She has more than 30 years' research experience bridging analytical and environmental science, with over 120 papers in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. She has supervised over 40 (mainly international) PhD students to successful completion; worked extensively with industry on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships; and served as Chair of the Royal Society of Chemistry Analytical Division Scottish Region.
In fandom she is best-known as one of the co-founders and organisers of Satellite, Scotland's (roughly) biennial SF convention, which explores the interface between real-world science and speculative fiction under the by-line Science Fiction, Science Fact, Science Fun. She was co-Area Head for the Science & Technology Programme track at Glasgow 2024, the 82nd Worldcon. In 2025 she was delighted to receive the Doc Weir Memorial Award.
