HANDBUILDING MONDAY: A FEW SPACES LEFT
Book now: https://govanhillbaths.com/what-we-do/ceramics/
Over five consecutive Monday evenings, this class will guide you through the various techniques required to get a ‘handle’ on hand building. Starting with the basic techniques, of pinching, coiling and slabbing, you will gain confidence in working with clay and have scope to try out some of your own ideas. After the four weeks of creating your work, we will fire all work in the kiln before the fifth week. Allowing you to spend the last session decorating your work.
Beginners will be fully supported and directed throughout the course. More experienced participants will be given the room to develop.
You will be tutored by Paula Doherty
Paula Doherty is an artist and potter making work under the name ‘rubber glove ceramics’. She studied Sculpture and Environmental Art at The Glasgow School of Art and Post Conceptual Art Practice in The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and now practices in her own Glasgow studio and works as a technician for Wild Gorse Pottery. Her current work pairs traditional throwing methods with bold pronounced forms and considered sustainable studio practices to create ceramics which are tactile and invite curiosity.
