✨ What a spectacular concert we had last night in the Glasgow City Halls to conclude our 58th season!

🎶 It was truly special to perform the exquisite works of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ & John Rutter’s ‘Magnificat’, two of Britain's most treasured composers, under the ever-inspirational baton of our magnificent director Andrew Nunn!

🎵 Bearsden Choir again had the delight to perform with a phenomenal team of musicians including the outstanding Scottish Soprano Monica McGhee and Liverpudlian Baritone Danny Shelvey, as well as the fabulous the McOpera Ensemble, with Christopher Nickol on the organ.

💙 Many thanks to all our performers, supporters and concert guests who all made our 58th season finale a night to remember!

✨ Listen to Andrew Nunn's insights into John Rutter’s ‘Magnificat’, the second piece in our End-of-Season Concert this Saturday in the Glasgow City Halls

✍️ Composed in 1990, John Rutter describes his 'Magnificat' as a piece where "the sun shines from beginning to the end"

🌞 It's a joyous work! Right from the very opening bars, joy and positivity pour from these beautifully crafted melodies

🎶 Whilst sometimes compared to Bach’s work of the same name, this composition is unmistakably Rutter, with catchy themes and jazz influences, this performance will send you home with a spring in your step

🪄 Conducted by Andrew Nunn, we will be joined by the outstanding voices of Scottish Soprano Monica McGhee and Liverpudlian Baritone Danny Shelvey, as well as the fabulous the McOpera Ensemble

🎵 Don’t miss out and get your tickets for this special performance of this magnificent choral music and join us this Saturday evening!

✨Listen Andrew Nunn's insights into Vaughan Williams ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’, the first piece in our End-of-Season Concert next weekend in the Glasgow City Halls ✨

✍️ Commissioned to mark the centenary of the The Huddersfield Choral Society, Vaughan Williams produced this cantata as plea for peace in 1936

🎵 Vaughan Williams was deeply affected by witnessing the carnage and loss of war while serving in WWI, leaving a lasting influence on his musical compositions

🕊️ ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ features some of Vaughan Williams’ most powerful music and sadly this hauntingly beautiful piece – written 90 years ago – is still relevant today

🪄 Conducted by Andrew Nunn, we will be joined by the outstanding voices of Scottish Soprano Monica McGhee and Liverpudlian Baritone Danny Shelvey, as well as the fabulous the McOpera Ensemble.

🎵 Don’t miss out and get your tickets for this special performance of remarkable choral music and join us next weekend!
